I've got the secret to the Pine wood Derby cars! :smile30:

The son and I went and bought some pre polished nails for the axles and I and going to bevel out the wheels some so there's no friction.

Whats the secret?

Out of 50 cars, only one could beat me. It looked like a top fuel dragster with all the weight behind the rear axle. That way the weight was on the ramp longer and pushed the car faster! I was going for cool factor, and made mine look like a school bus. It worked awsome till I raced that guy. He wins every year for the last four years. Once I looked at the design, I knew why. Graphite powder on the axles also. :smile30:

Ya, we have lots of graphite. Gonna use a lot during the adjustments and trials the night before right before it's impounded.

Next year I'm going to make one too and race my kid....and also in the "Friends and others" class.

We painted Jacobs car this year like PRO53's white and blue flamed hotrod he's building. I'll post pictures soon.

I watched a few You Tube videos on bending plastics and it doesn't seem to difficult. The hardest part of this whole process would be building a template and cutting it out with straight lines. Aside from that, the bending part seems easy.

I don't think the template will be that hard.  We have my windshield and Chad's to make templates from.  Then just build a wood and masonite mold to lay it against to bend it.  Should be a piece of cake.  I'm thinking you can even make the mold adjustable for different width's.

Ya.....the template shouldn't be that hard to make. The most difficult part I think would be getting the edges straight but if we could use your source Matt to cut the material with straight lines, I think we will be set with very nice looking windshields.

Okay, spring is rapidly approaching so I thought it was time to start on The  windshield for the Crusader. Thanks a million to Last Mohican, we were able to design and cut a template for the new windshield. Hopefully in a week or two Matt will be able to get the template transposed onto some Lexan and then I'll be able to bend the Lexan where it needs to be bent.
