I agree!!

I have the same issues at work as a Program manager.....schedules always seem to slip to the right.... But rarely to the left.

My whaler project took a year to complete.

My point is that he has an extremely aggressive schedule layed out and without a lot of money up front, aggressive schedules tend to slip to the right.

After the boat is together and motor is installed....only then will the Gremlins raise their pesky little heads.......

I have missed several deadlines already and who knows where it will go.  I have spent a lot of money on things already to be prepared to go to town.  This crack in the housing will set me back and looks like I am losing a day this weekend cause mom and dads truck needs a new transmission the joys of life.  I really dont want to miss Rockin the cove so I am going to be busting a$$ to get it done.  Bottom line I know I have some more money to put into it and if it makes it to rockin the cove it will be ugly but running.  In fact it wont be getting a face lift until off season because once its running it is going to get used.  I am determined to get this thing done and going to break my back to do it.

Go for it Chris & I hope ya have it there. We didn't have the xtra $$$$ to fund the spectra when we started, but I looked at all the extra's we had sitt'n around and sold the jeep & the MH at the ranch. Point is, even with a pile of cash, crap happens & deadlines get pushed to it'll be done when it's done. We even missed memorial day this year by about 12 hours of final work, but keep chugging and it'll get done when it's done.

I know everyone is just trying to motivate me to get it done.

I know how it is.  Believe me I am pushing to get it done too.

I say carry on. I wouldn't let others opinion influence me either. When you are done you will have a very unique ride that you put together. Will it cost more than a cookie cutter V bottom jet on CL? Sure it will. Will the build seem endless? Yep. You already know it's not a performance boat but it's definitly a boat the family can enjoy and way better than a store bought bayliner. From my experience you will get burnt out, sometimes you gotta walk away for a while. My project didn't get finished overnight, I had to build as I could afford the spare time and money and as a single dad both of those get pretty thin at times. It's still not finished, there are a couple things I can't stand about it but that's what winters are for. Good luck with the build.  clap.gif

I have more time to talk than I do to work on it, mostly cause I am online while at work.  That's about to change though.  Job change coming so get ready for the CJ withdrawal.  I don't know how much I will be on.  Time for the CJ won't change money won't change well unless I end up with a second job like its looking.  It will still get done. Putting it Priority number one above almost everything else.

Every night when I get home I am doing something on the CJ I am only sharing whats getting done when I need some advise like on the cracked housing for the pump.

I hope you meet your deadline and all but I quit setting deadlines after about the third one. The boat still looked like a blank hull at that point. My first boat was pretty much a slap together deal and it performed like one too. You will be way happier in the end if you take your time and build it in a fashion that satisfies your expectations.

In the midst of my resto I read were someone said " If you do something on it every day, eventually it will get done" . I tried to live by that, and eventhough deadlines came and went, it's still not DONE, but are they ever ??  crazy.gif
