Chris, if I was in your shoes this is exactly what I would do.

1. You have the pump broke down, so take it to a good welder and get the crack welded up.
2. I may be speaking out of place, but I doubt you can get the wear ring welded up, and then machined back to tolerance at a reasonable price.  Try and source a new /used one, and if you cant just take the opinion of the forum guys on how bad the wear is on it.
3. Depending on results of 2, assemble it with the current wear ring or a new used one.
4. Run it like it is, and enjoy the hell out of it with the family.  You can be the trophy tube puller boat!

My thoughts are to keep it simple, and cheap.  Dont go overboard at this time, or you will not be pleased with the results.  Wait until this winter and then start tinkering with it again, once you have done some test and tune and have some decent baseline results.  :smile16:
Got it

CJ, I have to ask, after watching you post, and meeting you at Bay City...are you for real with this? I know you are in a time, as well as money crunch. You have many projects/family/kids. We all see that. For real, for what you are gonna spend, restorationwise, and powerplant.....(gonna say it)
(and totally my opinion)......Go get a running jetboat, and make a planter outta that boat. You are always gonna be working on keeping that thing afloat, and moving. (that's why there are none around) again, just my beer-motivated idea.
However, if you are dedicated to the restoration, go for it. (be prepared to be highly dissapointed, and out of money) :smile26: Yes, i said it. :smile19: ( and begging for rides, like me)

Duane I am planning on getting another boat after this one is back on the water.  Yeah i know I am in for a world of hurt with it.  It will never be a tx19 warhawk but it will definitely be an eye catcher.  am i going through shite right now yeah but then who isnt at one time or another.  sometimes its everything i have going that keeps me going

BTW i will give you a ride anytime when i have it done it should be easy on your back

There are a lot of extremely experienced and knowledgable people on the boards all telling you pretty much the same thing. Experience and wisdom all play a major role in what folks are trying to communicate to you.

But hey....it's your money, your boat, your time and your family......do with them what you want. Just my $.02

i know it doesnt make sense and its good to restore it and i am not spending much on it.  Could i get a better boat for less yes.  I already have a lot invested in this one too.  Will I get something else to play with most likely but i started this one and I gotta finish it.  I wont do anything that is going to jeapordize my family or thier saftey.

These forums are about sharing opinions, which hopefully benefit the group in a whole.  We all jab at each other, but really want everyone to have running boats and to have a great time on the water.

Dont over analize the situation, just keep it simple and get it done for now.  You not going to quit on the project, so do your best to make it right.  Making it right doesnt neccesarily (sp) mean making it better....

CJ, I think your project is pretty cool. Having never seen a Chrysler jet it is surely different. I know a lot of people think I'm crazy for spending what I did on my ol Pyle, but I've had the damn thing forever and was never gonna let it go. I could have bought a running boat years ago for a third of what I have in this one, but it wouldn't be MINE if ya know what I mean. Do what ya can with what ya have, and when funds allow. The fact that it's what YOU want, & it's YOUR hard earned $$$$$ & you have your family's support is all that matters. Sux not having a running boat ( believe me I know ) but the reward will be worth it in the end. There's always someone that catches flak on boards, & haters are just that......

Now get the damn CJ done already 😜

I once had a crapped out SleekCraft Rebel hull with a YJ pump and a Pontiac motor sitting on a stand.  Most told me the exact same thing they are telling Chris.  Look at the Rebel now.

Keep up the good fight CJ.  You will get there.  Just don't over think it.

You've also got the funds to do it Matt....CJ is always crying poor and as we all know, it takes a lot of money to get our boats where they are today.....even if they were basket cases back in the day.

If he takes his time....he'll get it done but in order to get it ready as soon as he says he'll get it done (and done correctly), it'll take a lot of money up front and now to do it.....

Had to go back and look.  I titled the Rebel in June of 06.  That is about the time I got it.  The 06-08 registration stickers never even made it on the boat.  They are still in my file.  I registered here June of 09.  That is probably about the time the boat hit the water for the first time.  Like I told him, just keep plugging at it and don't over think it.  As you well know, setting a launch date is a guarantee of a missed date.
