Boat trailer work

I'm bringing the Crusdaer home from the storage shed to change out the wheel bearings and the carb. I hope I don't have metric wheel bearing seals like Matt was mentioning earlier. It's a 1978 trailer so I'm pretty sure it's all standard stuff unless someone changed them out before.

I'll be able to get the races out......I'll use a dremel and carefully get them out if they don't pop out for me with a screwdriver

Hell, you can knock em out with a hammer and screwdriver, putting them back in is where the drivers are needed to put the races back in without dinging the poop out of them.

the easiest way to get races out is with a stick welder and weld about 1 inch bead on the face,... this will shrink the race and it will fall out....  clap.gif

Are you gonna be in the shop all day today or will you be anywhere near the George bush....near Richardson?
That's where I work, off of Renner and GB

I don't plan on leaving the shop except for lunchtime (it's Chinese buffet Friday). Someone may call in with a busted fridge I would need to fix, could be anywhere in the DFW area, but most likely won't get that call cause I'm gooooood at fixin fridges.

In fact, I'll be there putting a compressor in Brent's freezer first thing this morning. If we had this conversation yesterday, I has a lady call in McKinney who's ice maker wasn't working. It was under warranty. The problem? The water filter wasn't installed completely... I hate Frigidaire's. Anyway, I was in McKinney yesterday afternoon. Could have dropped off the driver set.

Thing is, I don't have a welder at the house.

just need a big socket  :smile30:

That will work very well also if you have one big enough. The only socket I own over 1" is the one to remove the nut from the front hub on my Grand Prix, which I need to do.. AGAIN!!!

It's a 34mm or something HUGE like that.

I have a 110 volt wire feed welder, will that work? It seems heating the race would make it expand and be tighter on the hole.

I had to do the job and get back or I would have. Maria was at the hospital with her daughter yesterday afternoon. She may be there most of today also.
