Damn glad you're ok.

it's not the fact that the river is narrow,  it's the fact that the colorado river is not straight

Hell, you know what I mean guys...anyone who watches this video can tell this isn't the best place to test a 140+ mph boat.... Just glad he's ok.

The boat looked and sounded like it was on a hard run . I am so glad that you had on your safety equipment , we all should wear it when we are testing out fast boats ..

So sorry that your landing strip was too short for your test flight .. I am sure it was one scary ride knowing the boat would not turn .. Hang in there and get it fixed for the early Spring ..

Glad that you were able to walk away with just a few injuries .

What was you GPS speed on that run ??

I am a little sore this morning.  I tried to not take meds.  Not a real good idea.

As far as the river is concerned, that was not a good place to test.  I thought I was being safe, well you see how that turned out.

Lesson Learned

Ya but people gonna do what they gonna do, ya know? Doesn't even have to be a 140+ mph boat, could be a 60 mph boat and have the same result. That same shitt coulda happened to any one of us here. I think about it every time I'm at a river gathering, but other than not going, not much you can do.

I have never driven or been in a hydro so watching the video I would have thought you were being safe  too. You seemed to have shut down with plenty of time to slow down enough to make that turn. I have heard people say that hydros don't turn well but I never knew how bad they really were. I am glad you posted the video because the are a lot of lessons to be learned for everyone.

I have done the exact same thing with my hydro...On garcitas creek...lost a steering cable, couldn't turn, smacked the sandy shore..stuck the sponsons in the sand...no trees involved, thank goodness. Was only going about 10-15mph when it hit....and that hurt. I am definently not dissing anyone here. Stuff happens. Be safe, guys.

I am now going to be a grumpy old dude fussing at people if I think they are putting themselves or someone else in danger.  I think I have earned that right now.  :smile16:

Henry, are you sure you didn't have a steering problem? Is the rudder that short on it? At slow speeds, I cannot imagine not being able to have some steering control.... How do you keep it straight when hauling a$$?

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ here, I really don't know the answer to my questions.

I am not dissing the Colorado, either, I plan on spending most of my water time this year there.
