I know we are all glad you had yours on.  I don't want to imagine that scene if you hadn't worn yours.

ATTN.  ALL --did you all hear that...... pic. speak for them self's. SAFTEY GEAR SAFTEY GEAR  now with that said here i go.
i have noticed that hydro's have become all rage lately.  as hank has stated in prev. post, no prob. in prev. run's up and at 100 mph.  the thing that people HAVE TO REMEMBER is at a point in time they become kind of
an airplane, THEY FLY past 100.  stand in front of a true hydro and squat down and look at it.  it is a hydrofoil------ A looong azz wing  made to lift.  as such , henry found out the hard way that shut down length is expanded exponentaly. any time you change from one platform to something else it take's sometime's a lot of seat time to become aware of the handling characteristic of the boat. 800 hp in a jet boat is not quite the same as in either a flattie or a hydro. there all different animal's from one another.  if anything is taken from this post it should be , that hank did the right thing's ---- SAFTY GEAR. the hard lesson was, need more shut down room for higher speed's. PLEASE YOU ALL BE SAFE  wear you'r gear.........

Another thought after watching that video:

Henry, I know your not really a "tree hugger" but I THINK, once you get to feeling better you should go back there and give that a tree a hug AND a kiss.  Quite possibly saved your ass (of course along with proper safety gear, minus chute...).

Bottom line was the Good Lord was watching after me, he has some other plan and kept me here for some reason.  Maybe it was to do what Paul said, be here to tell the story of safety gear. Sounds like we are beating a dead horse but I feel it saved my life.  Everyone should not spare any expenses and get a good racing jacket, ballistic shorts and a helmet.  my .02

knucklehead!

i have  noticed what you mean as far as shutdown, the big ass 25ft eliminator takes like 10 seconds to come off its air pack from 95 or so

henry I can only imagine if that tree kept coming up with that center seat you would have been stumped.  Maybe a Kevlar cup is in order too to protect the boys.

Sorry you tore up the Hydro, but at least it didn't hurt you any worse than it did. I couldn't agree more on the safety gear cause bad $HIT happens fast. :smile20:
Glad your OK and may you have a speedy recovery.

From that angle it is easier to see what happened and it makes more sense now. In the other video it looked like he had plenty of river left but the boat seemed to drift to the right. You could not tell that the river veered  left and he couldn't make the turn. That really shows how bad the lack of turning is on a hydro. That had to be an eery helpless feeling!!! All things considered, you are a blessed man Henry!!!!!
