Dropped the boat off. He's going to try to replace the fly wheel without pulling the motor. New steering cable also. New starter, high torque mini. Have it done Friday.

:smile16: Picked up the boat. Try for Canyon Lake mid week. Granddaughter's graduation and parties all weekend. No time for boating.

Upon closer inspection I am even more impressed. To install the new steering cable he had to clip at least two dozen cable ties from under the dash to the back of the boat. Not one was left in the boat. I checked his work under the dash and everything was neat and clean like before. Haven't water tested everything yet.

Joe at Owens Racing Engines and Mike Biesert (Central Texas Jets) are two others that take pride in their work for sure.

I took the Baja to Canyon Lake for a quick run to make sure everything is good to go for Memorial weekend. No problems. Love the new starter. Kim and I and Kenda and 2 of her friends will be back at Canyon on Thursday. I'll take some pics but you can also look at my 2 earlier threads on Phoenix and Beyond for some of this lake.

It was 109 yesterday and 100 at 6:30 last night. Two pics from Canyon Lake. Supposed to be in the high 90's this weekend.

OK so it's 9:45 PM in Phoenix, 11:45 PM your time. Had a great day at Canyon Lake with my daughter (pics later). Cruising back to the ramp, about 6 miles away and I see a pontoon boat waving me down. Crap!!!!!!!!!!! He needs a jump start, no problem. Nope, not batteries. So I start to tow him the 6 miles to the launch ramp. We stop for a pee break and the tow rope gets under the swim platform, I don't see that. I take the slack out of the rope and the brackets break off. My swim platform is floating away. No good deed shall go unpunished. Long story short the guy gives me $200 cash and says he will pay for the new brackets. I'm on my second Baileys Irish Cream after a jack and coke as I type this. Head to Blythe tomorrow with no swim platform.

Awe man, that sucks! At least the guy was a decent human being and offered to pay for the damage! :smile14:

Sorry for your misfortune.
At least you have the knowledge and good feeling of, at least you did the right thing.
I'm sure they were glad to see you, when you arrived.

Put 40 miles on the boat yesterday. Hung out on a beach just south of the I10 bridge over the river. Boat traffic was busy but still found a lot of calm water. I got adopted by a guy and his girlfriend and they rode with me all day and showed me the way up and down the river. Later they fed me a steak for dinner and we sat around till about 9:30 shooting the bull.

Repeat today.

Staying another day. Went up river to a huge sandbar, probably 20 acres. The water was ankle to mid calf deep. This guy I met owns a army truck (see pic). Him and his brother are going to put their boats in the water today. We had shrimp and fajitas on the grill for dinner last night. I'm gaining weight for sure.
