I pull the block drains and go to the car wash after every trip out ... boat usually sits 4-5 days dry and they don't live dry ... do they ? ?

No they don't.

Even pulling the block drain there can still be pockets of water in the block and pump.  If they are in the larvae state they could live in those pockets of water, I'm guessing, indefinitely.  I think it is an important issue to address.  Just trying to figure out if there is a fool proof way to make sure you are not transporting them.

Also any temperature above 140F will kill the larvae too. So I'm thinking that if you ran the boat on the hose and the engine warmed up...once you shut the motor down and turn off the motor, the water in the block would heat up pretty quickly. As for the bowl.....I'd just spray a hose into the end of it.....

Fantastic news for us Lavon folks!!

Apprently they will only pump the water into Lavon when Texomas water temperature reached 54F to less in which the Zebra mussles are not reproducing.

When do you think they will begin to pump water again? hopefully by this February.......we need more water to boat in!

It's not just Boats that transport them, Birds and such, ANYTING that has been in infested water can transport them if the larva has not been given time to die, Life jackets, Anchor ropes etc........
