Found an interesting YouTube video from the show Ship Shape Marine concerning the ethanol fuels and what to do about the fuel while storing for periods of time.

I do not keep fuel that long, plus it is avgas.  Was interesting but still not sold.

In the video they said you can not burn straight ethanol because it burns to hot and will burn up your engine.  That isn't true.  If it isn't tuned for ethanol it will burn lean and perhaps burn a piston, but not because the ethanol burns to hot.

Depending on how much fuel you have left if it is ethanol, put it in your car or truck one or two gallons at a time when you fill up.  If your car has a computer, it will adapt to small amounts.  Fuel economy may go down a small amount but overall it is cheaper than getting rid of good ethanol and no storage problem.  Get new fuel next year.

The Ethonal burns cooler than gas , that is why you need more compression to make it fire off and make as much power as regular fuel .. The nature of Alcohol has that cooling affect on the engine , it cools the air charge a lot better than gas would . The carb , intake all the way to the intake runner will be cool, and sweat , and that some time give you that moisture in your valve covers that we all hate .

Any fuel leaned down enough will burn a piston , no matter what your burning ..You have to jet way up to burn Ethonal or E-85..
