Where is a good place to get UNSCREWED??

Well......some of you will get a laugh out of this and laughing is what's keeping me kicking myself in the backside.....so live and learn. Just bought a used 19ft Daytona and been going over it as it's real nice. Well while standing at the back of the boat on the drivers side looking down into the pump area I notice the forward most bolt probably in the loader area is sticking up about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I thought something was loose as I could not see the other side for comparison as too much stuff is in the way. Soooooo I get me a wrench and take it down flush. Get to the lake an notice we are taking on much more water than usual. When we get home I notice I now have this 1/8 to 1/4 bulge in the bottom of the hull and it is cracked. My question is how bad did I screw up. Can I just back the bolt out and have the area in the bottom repaired or is it more involved? Any comments welcomed
I got a couple of comments over on PB so I think I screwed up pretty good. Anyone want to suggest someone for repairs?

Thanks guys
Screwed up in Texas,

Gary  :smile29:

Yes...it was a leveling bolt I''m sure. Have not taken any pics yet. It was the one from Missouri with the 496 Chevy. I really love it if I can quit screwing it up LOL.

Gary  like I was telling ya in BB I did the samething and I know two other peeps that did it as well.  I backed mine back off and repoxy it and it was fine.  The other guy lifted his motor up loosened the bolt epoxy the bottom and the put resin on the inside but it was in a 50mph DANA cruiser.  Might get with Ken Sr he knows a Damn good fiberglass guy he was telling eric about him and I think he is in WYLIE area.  Boat sounded good AND its one bad AZZ looking ride.

I don't know much about that bolt or hull but anything can be fixed it just depends on the time and money and how well you want it fixed.  That little oops can't be any worse than the rebuild I am having to do on my boat and mine probably shouldn't have been salvaged but I am doing it anyways.

Gary if it is not something you think you can repair with epoxy.... take it to Dave....

I have a call into Dave but he hasn't called back yet. He might be out of town.

When I first got my boat it took on quite a bit of water. Some was from leaking exhaust, but some was also from the PO screwing the bilge float switch into the hull and right through the keel!! While doing my restoration I shoved some resin down into the hole and they don't leak anymore. Those were just little tiny holes though.

Kinda sux, but hey, sh!t happens... I wouldn't think it would be too difficult a fix. Damn nice boat though, you'll have it back tip top in no time.

CLiff

I had to drill several rusted out drywall screw from the Hull of the CJ put there by PO's when it looks like they treid to put in new plywood for the floor and just screw it down.  I wanted to get those cleaned up before laying up the new section of Fiberglass to make sure I didn't have any issues later on and to make sure I filled in those holes. and didn't have water intrusion due to rusted screws.

Talk about unscrewing your hull.

LOL

I found similar stupid mistakes on the crusader that just leaves me shaking my head. I'm sure the next owner will say the same about me too....never ending cycle.

Cliff I doubt the next owner of the Crusader will say that you have done things right.

I am not sure there will be a next owner of the CJ it may die with me!!
