Do you think the 10.22 compression would be enough to do what I want ?
I could have the heads milled down , but how much power would that increase from 10.22 to 10.58 ?? Would it be worth cutting that much off the heads .. I like to have plenty of room in case something happens and I have to have them milled later ..
Never know , the pistons that are in it may be able to reuse .. Then we are looking at over 900 HP on VP 110 ... But that is 8.00 a gallon again ..  What should I do .. ?????????.

I'm only running 10.2:1 so its not like its a deal breaker.

10.22 to 10.58 is probably only 10-12hp on your proposed deal.

What should you do? when the lottery and quit stressing!  :smile30:

THAT sure would be nice to win the Lottery and quit stressing about crap ..  I think that is what we will shoot for is the 10.2 compression and just let it make the power it will ..

Sorry about my post getting jacked up. I got confused with the puter I guess.

First thing would be to make sure what you have is ok. If it is, how many gallons a year do you burn and what would be the total price difference for the year. I don't get out that much so for me it's around $500 which in the whole scheme of things isn't too terrible. I looked at it as if the money was what would hold me back then I probably can't afford a boat like this. Maybe that's why i don't get out much. lol      Just my $.02. Either way you decide to go I wish you the best of luck!

Oh, and sure you can use my motor but you're gonna have to make some changes if you want it on alky....

Brian - it is set up for gas then ?  That will still work .. That is one cool looking rig you have ..

Thanks B! Yeah, it's on gas. I run Sunoco supreme which is about the equivalent of c12 (I think) but it is a little too much with the blower just at 1:1. I run the same fuel all the time so if I wanted to turn her up a bit she will be ready without jacking with changing fuel and I figure what could it possibly hurt. So what if it's a little lazy or I don't get every single hp I could. I'm at the lake!!!

I do not care how fast you are someone is faster, Eddie Knox is about the only one exempt from that, and sometimes he gets beat.  Just say'n

Nah. If I get outrun then so be it. I have nothing to prove.

That's about $4.50 a gallon more for the vp 110 over 93 octane, so how many gallons of VP would you use to equal the cost of a new set of pistons and probably a balance job?
So much to think about and so little time.

I'll believe that when I sell my ocean front property.
There is a reason why we buy bigger heads, get bigger engines and put blowers on them.
I'm not sure what each of us is trying to prove, but there is something.
Maybe it's that we can.
jim's philosophy for today.

For many of us "LAKE BOATERS" it's more about looking good.

Thank you Jim my point exactly, when I bought mine less motor back in 92 a 396 would have bolted up just as easy as a 454. Look at how many of us have at least hi rise single plane and 850cfm+ carb and is anybody even running a stock cam?  :)

It would take just over 2 drums of fuel to pay for the difference of what the new pistons will cost ..
If I decided to go to an event .I don't really want to have to carry 20-30 gallon with me for a long weekend . 10 gallon a day would be pretty conservative ..
If I keep the 13.4 compression - I might make just over 900 HP - Go to a pump gas set up - I think we will be close to 800 Hp .So it the extra 100 Hp worth it for the 8.00 a gallon fuel .. If I need that 100 more HP . I cheap nitrous system will easily do that .. But I don't really want to use nitrous for a lake boat ..
Big a$$ blower deal would be the best for me .. LOL

Never said I wanted to be slow. It's about the thrill it gives you when you hammer on the loud peddle. An 80 mph flat was super exhilarating when I first drove it but after a year or 2 it started to seem pretty tame. It's just a constant search for that next adrenaline rush. I assume it's like a drug addict, always looking and can always justify the cost if you think about it long enough. If you are worried about fuel cost just get yourself a trailer queen like me and you won't spend near as much! Lol

I think the point to prove is to look awesome! And to out run everyone,,, :smile22: even thow there is always someone faster...... :smile20: But with what budget we have we gonna damn sure try to out run'um  :smile16:

Billy here is another factor to consider, how much of the drum of new fuel do you still have left and how long would that last you, if and only if your old pistons are reusable?

Might have a half drum left .. So might could squeeze 2-3 one day trips out of that ..  It burns about a gallon on each 1/4 mile pass .. Plus the warm up time and some playing around time  .. I normally go through 8-10 gallon easy at Steel Creek in a day down there . That is just staying close to the ramp ..
Was thinking of saving it and adding it to the pump gas if we were at the limit of pump gas with the new set up ..  . But don't think we will need it with 10.2 engine ..

Might work you a sweet deal on it if you need it .. It is VP110.. Bought it last summer from my fuel man in Granbury
Can't get rid of it until I get the engine finished to make sure I will not need it
