Hmm..  I haven't even attempted to make reservations..  I don't have a camper, not in this part of TX anyway, but I got a Tent, Generator, and AC.... May have camper top for the truck...  Does Welch Park still let people camp "just wherever you want to"?  If so I may just pitch the tent or truck camper away from quiet folks, then fire the Generator up to run the AC... If needed... Never know about August, could be a little early cool front come in, might not need it...  Happened to me before in August at Somerville..

Rocky is supposed to be back open on the 18th.  Anyone know if they are going to be taking reservations?  Yegua will be closed, Rocky will now be open...  Where is everyone staying?  Or mostly everyone anyway?

Last time I saw it this low, was in 2000 I think....  I am hoping that perhaps if accidents are kept to a minimum, they will keep it open, but really ideally it needs to rain a lot before they close it, it is quite low.  Hopefully it will rain BEFORE they decide to close it, because if it rains enough to fill it back to say, 80%, they may not reopen it right away...  Maybe not in time for Welchfest...  That would be the worst case scenario...  Because it's there, but we can't use it... LOL..  This weather is just retarded.  I hope every year doesn't get to be like this one.  Having lots of clean beach is nice, but having trees, rocks, sandbars, etc sticking out of the water, is not cool at all.  I think it was a little lower yet in 2000 than it is now, and it was still open in August, so fingers crossed.  Just be careful out there, best to stay in areas that are "all water" and keep your distance from the shorelines, islands, and if you can, get a topo map of the lake so you know where the shallow parts are...  I'll see if I can find one and post it up...

IS Welch park gonna be ground zero?  :smile21:

yes that is where the party has been for the event, we like to camp on the other side of the lake, however im not sure of the condition of the welch park ramp, now or what it will be like come late august.

i have an idea being, just thinking out loud, for some reason we cant have it at welch, i.e. the ramp there is closed we could cruize to yegua from rocky or overlook, nice beach there, and cool water and the park is closed due to construction which meant the only way there is by boat.

I'm not real familiar as to where the different parks are in relation to each other. How far a run is it from Rocky to Yegua? Used to be a pretty nice beach there, few years ago. I guess the water was down then too...

I'd do it. :smile30:
