think the fun to drive part is the bigger thing actually. gas mileage would just be a bonus.

I dunno though, plates/inspection/insurance on another vehicle is not too appealing.

I had a nasty big block (VW) and it got way to dangerous, traded for a bone stock small motor, then it got fun.  It still will pull the front wheels off the ground.

My favorite car i owned.. 1966 VW I loved that thing.. Had a glove box full of spare parts as something was always taking a crap.. Mostly the points. Could change them out in a few minutes on the side of the road.. Changed the motor out a few times.. the old 66 was a dog i upgrdaed to a 1600cc dual carb set up and then it drove fine. I had it lowered with 16" 60 series all the way around it was like driving a go cart only not as fast.. LOL
I will get another one again one day. Parts are easy to find and the engine is as simple as it gets..

VW people out here almost made me hang up my spray gun for good.... Picture Oregon hippie and VW's... Yeah.... Not pretty.... Cheap $&@*^%#!!!!
Personally i figured if i was gonna spend $2000 on a motor, I really wanted to have more than 60hp.....
Yeah, I'm a little bitter to those folks, but I've got stories!!!!
Nothing personal to anyone here....
