Truck Tires for the Ford

Hey fellas!!

The truck tires are about worn out and I have a vehicle safety inspection due next month (May). Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on some great wearing tires for my 2005 FORD F-150?

The size I need are 285/70-17 and I'm currently running the Firestones All terrains Destination series. They haven't lasted as long as I would have liked. Also, I'm not partial to Firestones....just any good quality tire would be fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!.

Rent a tire? Never heard of them....I'll have to see where they're located. Thanks!!

On my F250 I run Michlin, cost a little more, but the cost per mile is better then most inexpensive tires.  With that said, my wife did alot of research on truck tire wear and overall expense and I put a set of General Grabbers on my 1/2 ton GMC and I'm sorta freekin out with the ride and wear.  Had them on for 20,000 miles and not seeing any wear.  Now I rotate my tires every 1500 miles, I guess I have some latent desire to be a NASCAR pit man.

I  bought the Generals from a little Mom and Pop dealer in a small town East of Austin.  That's a drive for you.  Just get on the internet and find local dealers, I used Discount Tires price to start my negotiation.

If you are running an F250 or bigger, go with the 10 ply, Michlin.  Far safer because of quaility, ride and wear.  On a 1/2 ton the Generals are golden.

With it being a half ton, allot of tires out there should do fine. Once you get them put on, have the front end checked out. Saves money in the long run. think.gif

I have an F-150 1/2 ton....so I'd probably be better with the Generals.

Well I've tried the Michelin LTX, Firestone Destinations, and the OEM crap tires and none of them really hold up to well. Yes, I have a lifetime front end alignment deal. I've replaced my lower ball joints and put some Moogs on there with the Zerk grease fittings.
