Changing the wiring is a piece of cake. I believe a company named Hoppy or something close to that, make snap in converter to change your wiring to what ever you need. They are sold at most parts stores, Tractor supply and so on. If you have any questions just ask, I use to work with a trailer guy! :smile30:

Thanks Patch. From what I can gather, the fifth wire is connected to the reverse tail lamp and that's what disconnects the reverse lockout on the electric disc brakes.

I believe I've stayed at the same Holiday Inn Express before too. Lol.  :smile17:

Lol...on my second cup, thank you for asking! (it's full leaded, not that ethanol unleaded crap, lol)

I guess I'm the only North guy up this morning...seems the rest of my Homez are all still asleep. I know one is in Cancun....so that's okay..he's still posting. But the rest of them...well, not sure what's going on. Lol.

I took a look at what is left of my braking system on the Crusader trailer last night and found out that the PO not only removed and discarded the Hydraulic resevior, he cut the hydraulic lines now too.....which render them useless. This means that if I'm to use the original brakes that are on the trailer, I'd have to re-plum a new hydraulic line too.

I think it'll be easier to rip all that out, install a set of electric disc brakes on the rear trailer wheels and call it good.

Cliff, before you rip anything out, run it by Southwest wheel in Dallas and let them give you a price on reinstalling your system.  I have both types of trailer braking systems (electric and hydraulic) and the hydraulic is much more dependable and hassalfree, than the electric.  We are constantly replacing parts on the electric system and it's on a horse trailer, we don't constantly submerge the system in water(ie boat ramp)

The line is cheap and easy to run. think.gif
