To all THB members, help needed.

TO ALL THB MEMBERS,,  We have a member here on the site ( NitroNeil) who's son has been deployed to Afghanistan. Neil has been in touch with his son and has asked for some help in supporting the troops over there. In his talks with his son the guys are needing things like long john, blankets, pillows , sheets, snacks and just basic hygiene needs. I know he has plans to take donations at the end of the year party on Joe Pool held by E.O.Speed. I was thinking this week about maybe a better way we could all help support the needs of the troops. I notice we have an average of 80-90 members a day sign in and read the forums here on the site Instead of everyone trying to go out and buy what the guys need and ship them to Neil or his son, Let think about this. If everyone could take a few minutes today or tomorrow and get an envelope with just $5 or $10 and the cost of a stamp to send to Neil and let him go out and buy the troops what they need, ship it to them would be great. Just think 5 or 10 times 80 to 90 members  would buy these guys a lot of long johns and blankets. It would be easier than each individual buying something and shipping to Neil. I would ask if you guys and girls could find this little bit of your time and money to help out a members son and his troops . Just a idea if you send a donation please put your aka screen name on the return address of the envelope would be great.  The idea would be so that Neil could send a note to the troops the support from the members of THB. Pictures will be taken and sent back to show us how our donations are helping out  Neil address is as follows  Neil Westerlund  4117 Dogwood Ln. Fort Worth, Texas 76137    This would sure be a great way to thank the troops for all they do so we can enjoy our freedom. Neil will be at the Joe Pool event and will take in whatever anyone can help out with. bill... let me see if i can get dylans scout troop to help donate anything.. i know if not then i will send some money and maybe my office can give toothpaste and toothbrushes.. ???

The easiest way to get this to go fairly quickly would be to set up a Pay Pal account for this,
When dealing with donations, Pay Pal does not take any percentage.
Lots faster than mail. Which means the guys can get it to them without waiting on the mail 2 times.

Let me know where to send funds. I will gladly help those that help us.

clap.gif Thank you for those of you are here to support Jason(NitroJr.) and his buddies in Afghanistan.  Since this topic was started there has been 93 views.  Just think if all 93 views sent just $5 in an envelope to help out these troops =$465 to buy long johns and blankets for the troops. Thanks to all who can give what they can, I am sure Jason and his buddies will appreciate it.  Paypal would be nice but not everyone has Paypal. Envelope... $5 and stamp with your aka" SCREEN NAME" To Neil would be the simple way to handle this. Thanks again and hope you guys keep this thread alive.

We sure can do something for 'em, no problem. My son-in-law was over there for a bit last year. Can always use fresh supplies from home. :cool:

clap.gif  I want to say thank you for the support that is building on this endeavor. I recently learned of the needs of the solders through my son. I did not know. As usual we the general public here don't know the half of it. So I decided through the help of Cookieman, THB, and others to go for it and try to do something for those who are serving and who don't ask for anything. I will keep you posted and take pictures of the progress. All of you will know what has being done and I will show accountability of all that is done. 100% percent of donations will go to the troops. Thank you THB and all those who participate.

I am starting to receive donations. I will PM you when I receive a donation. I will then let everybody know what the donations paid for from the list that was posted and then let you all know when everything is shipped. I will do my best to make a full accountablity of the donations. Thank you all again. I know there are some soldiers that we will make very happy.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND.It is not for my son. It is for many of the soldiers that are at the FOB where he is. But mostly for the soldiers that are out in what they call COTS. If I remember right. These guys dont have much until the men from the FOB go out to them on missions. But I will see that those who are most in need (along with Jason's CO) receive items from the list and hopefully they will know of our appreciation for what they do. Thank you

PLEASE. We are coming down to the wire on donations of money and items to send to the troops in my son's unit and others in need. I will be purchasing items they need and want and shipping by the 11Th. This is so it will be there by Thanksgiving. They need this stuff now. I must have items and donations that week of the 11th. I will take a picture of the items and post it. When it gets there there and they receive the items a will be a picture taken that will be posted on THB.  Thank you for your support. MY INFO IS

JUST A NOTE ON THE PLANNED SHIPPMENT. We will be shipping items before the end of the week to be there by thanksgiving. These items will go the the soldiers that are out at the COPS. There is about 17 to 20 men that this shippment will benefit mostly. These are the men that are out in the field all the time that dont have what the men at the FOB have. They will really enjoy receiving this stuff. I just want to let you all know this and tell you all thank you very much for the support. You learn alot about what is really going on over there when you have someone there. I will keep you up to date.

OK. ATTENTION EVERYONE. We got behind on shipping the boxes. They will be shipped Monday. We will finish shopping this weekend. Thank you for the donations. We also received help from the Walmart in Hurst, TX. Also some help from a law firm in Ft Worth, who will be revealed later. We will take pictures and ship the boxes. These boxes of requested items will actually be going to 3 combat outposts in Jason's group. There are 17 men who will receive these items specifically and the extra items will go to the forward opps base. They are very excited to be receiving this gift from us and others who have helped. They are going to take pictures so we can post on THB, Walmart ( Hurst store bulletin board),  and the law firms members. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT. We will be doing this again. Christmas is coming.
