Does anybody have any experience running San Jacinto river (West Fork) up to Hwy 59? Can you or how far can you run past 59? I would be running in a jet so sand bars should not not be terrible news.

I dont run above the lake most of the guys on here run below the damn.I think sid (blenderman)knows that area you might wanna  pm him.You can run all the way to clear lake on the lower san jac.I dont know if I would attempt it in a jet though it could get a little dicey past I -10 bridge.

I actually live on the lower San Jacinto and know it like the back of my hand. We take trips to Kemah pretty regularly. Not in a Jet boat though. After all I have only seen the bay smooth enough for a jet once in the three years that I have lived on the river.

I have been west of the 59 bridge ONCE ONLY!!! I let a friend drive my Taylor because he said he knew the waters. We wound up aground on a sandbar that almost spanned the river, only it turned out to be SPRING CREEK!!! We only knew that because we heard loudspeakers through the trees saying that Jesse Jones Park was closing. We hiked out through the park, leaving the boat there overnight. My "buddy" lived very close to where we exited the park, and we spent the night trying to get somewhere close by land to get the boat unstuck. Wound up sneaking equipment like ropes and shovels and come-alongs back into the park to the boat the next day. You are not supposed to touch anything or leave the paths. We worked all day to winch the boat to slightly deper water at the edge, and when it would float, hauled ass out.
Never been, never going, back. We do run from the 59 bridge to the Lake Houston Parkway bridge, no further either way, though I know you can get into the lake from there.

59 is about as far as you want to go.West fork stays pretty busy with the tow boats. We go up the east fork alot and spend alot of time at skiers cove on the eastside south past the train bridge. We need to hook up.We are hoping to go out a couple of more times before it get's too cold and before I start changing things up on boat.

Plan on making a trip Saturday morning. I will be in a Maroon Avenger looks just like a Taylor SS. I will be leaving out of Walden's boat ramp and heading to either East or West fork. I guess I will take the warning and not go past 59. How far up the east fork can you go? Is there a specfic land mark on the east fork.

Had a nice boat ride this morning. We the help of a GPS we made it up the West fork to Hwy 59. Then we keep on about three miles and had to turn around due to gas. We went back to the Marine at 1960 and paid $5.00 a gallon for 10 gallons OUCH! Then we went up the East fork all the way up to Caney Creek. The East fork was easier trip than the West fork but both of them had Jet boat written all over them.  We couldn't of done the trip in a prop boat. I tried to put in a google earth picture with red dots marking my end destination but had no luck on this site.
