Well I am officially frustrated I out the back piece on and I think it's too tall, gave up went inside and poured a drink. I have to come up w 6 inches clearance, other option is a bird catcher. I do think I probably need to finish and slap windshield on and roll outside to get the effect. Wasting a lot of money in wood tho.. :smile20:

In all actuality a lid with no scoop is most likely more user friendly for getting in & outta the boat & will score more points with wives & kiddos...
Myself, not really a fan of the big humped up engine lids, but sometimes its unavoidable. Personally I would keep it flat as possible & put a scoop on it of some sort to give you the carb clearance you may need. The plan for mine is a lid with a cutout for the carb/scoop to clear the lid.
And yeah, some of your pics come out sideways, seems to be only the ones that you are taking yourself. Probably from posting from a phone or tablet or tablet I'd guess.

mock it up in cardboard much cheaper then you can really see what each looks like for next to nothing. make one flat with a hole and make some different cardboard scoops and make your humped one and see which looks better. What about using a dropped air cleaner we used to use that trick in cars when we wanted it to fit under the hood and not cut it.

Do you already know how high your motor is going to sit in the engine bay? How do you know your cover will not hit the motor?
Also the sides of the cover look a little close to the edge of the compartment. Remember you're going to have to allow for padding and material on the edges of your cover too.

I spoke w a few guys who have SS and they told me that have about an inch clearance with the factory cover. I took some measurements off my factory cover and added 6 3/4 inches of space for a victor intake and maybe another go fast goody. Unfortunately this part of the build I won't be able to have motor in to build specificly to fit.
I left about a qtr inch gap all around sides for foam and material, their is still lots of fine tuning that need to be done to get proper fit, lots of weird angles. I will keep playing with it this weekend and hopefully can start in backseat.
I'm going to chime in here and say this is the time to lay down supports for your grab rails or hand holds. Try to imagine how people are going to get in and out of the boat, once it's in the water. If you are going to use the boat to drag the kids around in their inner tube, you'll need a kid friendly way of getting back in the boat. I say this through experience, had a couple of really slick looking boats that were impossible to get in from the lake. Project looks awesome, really a great job.
