Went and checked my fire extinguisher. No where on it does it say USCG or for marine use, but it is a class B or whatever. Anyway, I went to Walmart in the boating section and the marine fire extingusher has a boat on the box and that's about it. It was the exact same one I have in my boat now. It's a class B extinguisher that has the fuel and electrical symbols on it.
Ahh, the way I'm reading it, they tell you what markings are on a ASCG extinguisher, but the REQUIREMENT is quoted in this statement. "Fire extinguishers approved for motorboats are hand-portable, of either B (for gasoline, oil & grease fires) or BC (also extinguishes electrical fires) classification."
I guess I have a new class BC in my boat now. The box had a boat on it but no where on that thing is the statement "Marine Type USCG approved, Size .... Type ::::, 162.028/.../" although it does have the fuel and electrical symbols.
