That's what I'm thinking patch. It should at least let you know if the shoe and loader are close.
Then you install inducer and a stuffer, and let it fly, squirt, flow, shoot, what ever you want to call it. :smile26:

Well if you just tap the top or bottom, you would only get half the story it seems. How would the shoe effect the top pressure reading.I'm sure it mite make some difference, but having both readings tells the whole story. I think it's like anything else, the boat that runs the fastest, the owner or crew chief knows everything about it. It's never just a guess, they have to have all the info. But for a lake slogger like most of us, it mite be overkill if one doesn't plan on going all the way. I really don't know jack about any of this first hand. Just been doing allot of reading here and there.

YEP!

The loader will also affect the pressure on the suction housing, pressure to low runs out of water and pressure  to high robs speed and makes shut down more dangerous. look for around 28-32psi.

So would you want the same pressure on any jet? Does an 80mph jet need the same pressure as a 105mph jet ? Also if I get boat setup to have 32 all motor will it have too much on the spray?

I'm no pump guru but I think it's more of a tuning tool than an end all be all type deal. All boats are different, like was said on PB tunnels are going to build higher pressures than v bottoms. Several variables play into the hardware set up, shut down being the most important IMO. The faster the boat the more hardware it will need to stay hooked up is my understanding. The keel also plays a role in loading the pump....

That is something you are just going to have to play with , like txlib said all boats are different.

Its just a way to make sure your not running out of water and not giving too much more than it needs is what im gathering. I think if anything mine is getting too much pressure, but i want to know. I know when i made the  first pass on the spray at Tawakoni it shut down pretty hard!

Mine was pretty pathetic. 0 top- 0 bottom

I made a .125 shim for the shoe and brough it up some. After talking to Mike S., I think I have a good starting point. I want my pump loaded, maybe not 80psi but at least 30-40psi equal

When you going to test it? Let us know how it does.

when i tested the shim i went from 0 to 12psi. On the GPS i went from 83 mph to 87mph. So it was pretty clear to me that there is some significant advantage to having water in the suction housing.
