PTO???

Looking to mock up the 4g63 in the jet boat in the next few weeks and we're needing a PTO. I can't find any for a 4g63 (go figure). I can send in the flywheel and the bolts and have one made for around $200. Or I can purchase a blank and hope it'll work.

I was looking at the flywheel from the 455olds and the bolt pattern looks to be a lot bigger than what it is on the 4g63.

So, I was trying to figure out other options and had an idea. The stock flywheel on the 4g63 is cast iron. The bolts to bolt the flywheel on stick out about 1/4". Would it be possible to drill and tap the flywheel and then use some 1/4" spacers and bolt the driveshaft directly to the flywheel? I can't think of a reason why this wouldn't be feasible but, when it comes to jet, I draw a blank for the most part.

Thanks for any help.

Looks like you are gonna have to fab everything for this project. Asking us for advice on a 4 banger is like ......... loss for words. :smile21:

You need a machinist......

Get in touch with JJ ( beaverfab ) he can make just about anything you need. He is a machinist and a boat person .. Trust me he has all the machines to make what you might need . Not sure what he charges for something like this .

Thanks guys, I'll get a hold of JJ and see what he has to say. Maybe we'll be about to work something out.

And it'll be an ordinary 4 banger. Just some after market rods, and pistons and then a shit ton of fuel and boost. :D It'll be right around 650-700hp. I believe some of you will be surprised. ;)

Turboinline4, keep us informed to the progess of your boat. Start a thread under boat projects and put up plenty of pics and guys will follow your progress.

i am familiar with the 4g63...normally turbo in the eclipse. one of the stoutest 4bangs around.  Also known for crankwalk

I guess if it works.  :azn:  I do have one question though.  how well will the crank/rods hold up when the jet comes out of water and unloads/reloads??  That is some pretty serious impact loading.  And it is sure to happen more often than a big V8 due to the weight savings in the rear.

Just curious.  I don't know much about little tykes other than the parts are small, smalll...            "S_M_ALL".  (as dean martin would say)

And what kinda impeller?  C cut...?...so you can get the rpm way up there.  ??  Inquiring minds want to know!

a couple of years ago I was trying to sell a boat to a person over in Germany. over there they are really TAXED on motor size and HP . he was wanting to put a small motor in it..  :smile18:
