No , I want to do water jacketed log type exhaust that I can add turbos to later . I am putting a 2.5" pipe inside of a 4" pipe with 1 7/8" primary tubes . They will be the same thing as a cast aluminum log , but out of polished stainless .

Since I am going all out on the paint I am starting to think I should do something nicer than just leaving the floors in the boat like they are . Anyone  have any ideas on what I could do other than carpet that will look good? I don't have a gel coating gun , only a paint gun . Here is a pic of what the floor looks like now .

I've seen a couple boats where guys have put that garage floor speckled eurathane coating. It holds up pretty well, cleans easy, and hides lake debris while your on the water.

It can be found for less than this, but you get the idea.

Option B, Rhino Lining... LOL There's a guy up here running around in a bass boat completely rhino lined in yellow for the interior. Not real pretty, but super tough.

I thought about painting it to match the deck since I have enough paint to do about 50 more boats.  But what can I put over it to keep it from getting scratched up by coolers, beach toys, etc ?  think.gif

LOL. I was joking. Unless it is a real smooth surface, you would probably have a hard time trying to make the woodgrain work right. If you did, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that might work would be to clear it all and then cover the "high traffic" areas with a clear bra material.

I gotta admit, I like the idea of a clear bra  think.gif but I'm not sure my boat even needs a bra. I was thinking I could put a flat floor at the bottom of the stringers, that would give me a nice flat smooth section in the center of the floor.  The rest of the floor will be the bottom of the boat, that part will stay black. Most of it will be under the seats anyway.

You mean that you would woodgrain the insert?

That might work but I would probably still clear bra over it just to be safe. I would maybe put a 2" or so border of blue around it to make it match too.

What is a clear bra?  I was thinking it was either a typo,  or something to hold tata's ?

It's used to protect the paint on vehicles from rock chips etc.  Basically a big clear sticker.  If you are going to put a piece of wood between the stringers why not just coat it with clear epoxy and leave it wood.  You could scribe some lines on it to make it look more like a balsa floor.  Hal over on PB did that for the transom wood in his Kona restoration (See page 2).  Looked pretty good IMO.

If I do wood I want it to match the deck , or not look like I tried to match the deck . I could do the parquet floor , but don't want to get that into it . I don't want regular wood that don't match though , and I really doubt I could stain any kind of wood to look even remotely similar to the deck .

I forgot to post this pic the other day  crazy.gif This is one of Nuke's work cars , if you zoom in on the flames you can see that they are all done in pinstripes . The stripes fade from orange to yellow in the flame , really a cool effect for a pinstripe .

I got the paper off the boat and have started wet sanding , again . The woodgrain looks really good with the champagne color , but it should look even better with the blue that is going on next . My helper is really pleased with the results so far  :smile16:

Yeah , that would be cool  crazy.gif Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner , I could have just JB welded a bunch of that stuff onto the deck too  jump.gif
