What size is that motorhome you have.... You pull the boat with it? Ya'll like it ok I guess as opposed to the barbaric practice of *gasp* tent camping...

Details man, talk to me... :cheesy:

It's a 24' class C. Yes It pulls the boat just fine. We really enjoy it, it's really easy to set up.

You ever launch or retrieve the boat with it? Whats it got in it for power, big block I assume. How is it driving it, mileage, shit like that...

I haven't launched the boat with it yet. Fortunately there are peeps at the campsite when we arrive who are kind enough to help in that department. I could if I had to, it's not that big. It has a 460 in it with an overdrive. I know the mileage varies on how I drive 60mph v 70mph. I think it gets around 8-9 mpg. At least that seems to be the average give or take. I like it, my wife hates to drive, so it was the only way to get everyone there and a boat with one vehicle. But I don't mind it at all. The price of gas sucks, so the cabin idea is looking good. think.gif

Thats kinda what I was thinking as well. If we went somewhere, more than likely there'd be friends along that could do that, but could be done if we was rolling solo. That mileage is not bad, my 4x4 used to barely get that, lol...

Thats kinda where we are leaning, the whole "get there in one vehicle"thing. It sux having to take 2 vehicles if we are goin somewhere with the boat & we'd be more inclined to take a trip somewhere if we didn't have that to contend with.

I forget how the classes are divided up, is yours based on a 1 ton chassis or bigger? I need to check yours out when ya'll have it out again.

the only thing that sucks about having a motorhome and launching a boat is once you set up the motorhome inside and out and you want to put the boat in or take it out is you have to unplug everything roll all that crap up and secure everything inside you have laying around that could fly off in the floor or wherever.  Thats the main reason we sold ours,,plus the price of gas!

Yup Greg, thought about that too. Go through all the  trouble to get set up & then have to de-rig to go mess with the boat. I dunno, its just something we been kicking around a little. The pop-up we have has been awesome, but every now & then we wish we weren't stuck with running 2 vehicles somewhere. I know the mileage wouldn't be very good, but seems 7 mpg in one vehicle be better than 12-14 mpg in 2 vehicles?

yea it can be a pain. you might think about doing something like we did and found a 26' gooseneck and put a heavy tubing bumper on the trailer and we pull the boat no problem. you could do the same with a bumper pull but then your limited on length,,i think 56' is max in TX.

Trick to pulling doubles is have the heaviest (DOUBLE AXLE) trailer in front and the single in the rear, (BOAT) ,the double axle in front helps eliminate the sway in the last trailer like you saw someone else on here try with 2 single axles,,aint no way in hell i would try that! LOL  you could probably find a short gooseneck for less than a motorhome and Carole's or your truck will pull the later models with the boat no problem.

65' is the max. We looked it up on line. I was thinking of doing the tandem thing with my truck, travel trailer, boat. I'd be wayyyyy over 65'.

lol yea you would! THats one reason we went with the short gooseneck because its overall length and not measured by each vehicle's length,,and with my double cab dodge it didnt take long to add up!

We thought about that also. I think a cab over camper on a dually pulling the boat is the best. But you don't have allot of room inside them. think.gif

Thought about doing that too, but Carole's Dodge ain't got enough sack to get away with that. Small 4.7 L v8 runs ok, but nowhere near enough grunt. That & the transmission would never last, we've already found that out too. Not really interested in getting another truck neither as this one is paid for. Can't stand the thought of another payment. :cheesy:

They have come a long way with those cabover/slide in camper deals. We looked at one here & it was pretty friggin nice. Had a full size shower/bathroom, kingsize bed, etc... You probably wouldn't want to spend large amounts of time in it, bein cooped up kinda. But for takin off somewhere for a few days it would be ok. Hell they have them with slideouts even...

Jeff's trailer is real nice and roomy!  The door opens real easy for quick exits too!  :smile23:

And well lit too from what I hear, in case that quick exit is made in the dark. :cheesy:

Yep, it's a straight shot from the sleeper sofa to the door. 3 steps down and your on the grass. Convient for some folks.
