nope, and that attempt at lowering the pickup didnt work, so it is back out of the boat and sitting on the stand.i was talking to outlawjet and he suggested a couple things , but he also told me that 50w is a little too thick for winter time what do you guys think about the weight of the oil? he suggested running 40 w , and then switching to 50w when it gets warm again.
I run 20  50 vr 1

What engine temps were you getting while it was running ?
Good point, I skipped over that, I run 50wt Shaffer Full syn. and don't have any issues but I am running a stock pan.

randall--- you said that you lowered the pick up, is it sitting square in relationship to the bottom and not cocked.
i have used that type of pick up and the dam thing had to have the strap on the bottom of the pump sitting
on the bottom of the pan. the highth of the pick up can from the screen to the tube inlet is almost an inch
in my case mine was not sitting close to the pan bottom , that plus the angle of my motorset to the gear box plus the fact of drain back issue's with my canfield head's  agraveted the whole deal.  ALSO look for any pin holes or fracture's at the weld seam from the tube to can pick up. this type of prob.you have to look at every thing. GOOD LUCK.

i picked up another pan and pickup, guy said it was a jet boat pan when i got there it wasnt but i am gonna try it anyways, and it has it's own pickup also that mounts directly to the oil pump, and a plug which looks like a freeze plug goes in the hole where the pick up would normally go, the pan is a road racing pan from milidon it has trap doorsin front and both sides of the pan and it also has a welded in windage tray. i already checked the clearance in this pan hopefully it will work this time, i am also gonna try a lesser weight of oil i been running 50 w but i think that may be like honey in the motor, in this cold weather, probably gonna go to 40w.

here is what i found on it, i know it has trap doors in front and on the sides to trap the oil.

this is from milidon website not sure how many left and right turns i am gonna make, but maybe i will take up sprint jet racing!

The hot tip for road racing due to trap door baffle system is to provide adequate oil supply on left & right turns. Proven highly effective in SCCA and other competition. Also great for very low Camaro,  Chevelles and Covette in all applications including road race to drag race. Fits Mark IV 396-454 and stroker Big Blocks. With most aluminum rods, pan will fit up to a 41/2" stroke without modification.

Pan Capacity is 8 Quarts Plus Filter -
10" Sump Length, 16" Sump Width, 8  1/8" Sump Depth

Well if you take up Sprint jet...............sounds like you have the right pan!
The thing I saw that got my attention in the pic's is that the pickup LOOKS like it is made to pull oil from the right hand side of the pan. thats just what I see, could be wrong.
