did you buy the droop used?the older droops have a larger exit id,if a new oring don't fix it you may need to get a new droop.I learned all this the hard way.

they sell nozzles 2 ways, just a solid id or machined out to accept the flow tune nozzzles.if you have the solid type you can get it machined out.IMO  if your under 500 hp it wouldn't be worth getting it machined but if your gonna buy a new one,get the inserts.

Hey Duane,if you see this,i don't think i am getting my pm's,can you check it out,i will send you one, please send me one back if you get it.

I bought the droop from Scott, aka Tintman... I have no idea if it's older or newer, but it's not coming off because I sold my one piece bowl. Just ordered a new seal for the nozzle along with new nyliners. We'll see how that helps. My motor should be close to 535hp. I also ordered a 3 1/8" insert...... I'll take it to the machine shop around the corner here if necessary. The nozzle is the one that came with the diverter that was on the boat when I bought it.

Thanks for the info turboed-tx-20. Did you look at the pics that were posted? So the wedge is in upside-down? I would think if I point the nozzle down with the wedge the the pressure would be pushing up on the back of the boat and push the front down?

I'm no expert, but it looks right to me Bobby. I'd try running it without the wedge. That, or maybe the droop has wedge built in so to counter that you put a wedge in upside down?? Just thinking out loud because mine now shoots a HUGE roost, like the nozzle is a few degrees up from when it was mounted to a one piece bowl straight up.

I'm going to gps is tomorrow and see if my mph comes back with the original nozzle. Then I will take the wedge out and gps it and get someone to video it with and without to see if I rides dryer. What does your nozzle measure right now?

The west coast setups put the wedge upside down...seems to work with a backcut shoe. I saw alot of different setups this weekend. My boat seems to run the best with a droop and no wedge. The new snoot with 7* of wedge makes mine hop outta the hole and not much tail lift. Ive ordered a few parts to do some experimenting with. Scottie Seastrum tested a droop, mpd half droop, and snoot on his 18 gullwing with a data logger...with interesting reults. The snoot gain a mph or two...but was a few 10ths slower, the half droop was the quickest ,and the droop was also quicker than the snoot but 2 mph slower...so many theories...and so many results!  crazy.gif
Most droops have 7* angle built in...old berk styles are 8*. think.gif

Man its crazy how these little things effect how the boat performs a lot! I bet when I take some shims out from in front of my impeller to pull the clearance from .055 down to .025 will make a big difference too!

Hey Scott, I have your old polished droop on my boat now, is it the old style or new style?? Or don't you recall on that one?? Is there a way to tell from the outside?

Where are you going to GPS and what time? I could probably cut out early afternoon tomorrow and shoot some vid, especially if you go to Lavon.

Hey James from what I can tell with mine the droop is old style and the nozzle that fits it has a thinner O-ring. The place diver has a bigger groove and thicker O-ring. It must be the new style.

That would explain the squirting all about then. I'll bet my old one piece bowl was original and had the thinner O-ring. The thick one from CP Performance is on the way with new nyliners to tighten it all up..

Well i didn't get all my mph back with the old nozzle but it did go faster and accelerates lots quicker! Now I will take some clearance from my impeller and wear ring.

Well I have to be careful since I have hyperutectic pistons. I can only go up to a 125 shot. I'm going to start with a 100 shot and see how much it raises my rpm. My heads only flow enough air to turn the cubic inches I have 6,200. I will probably be ok at 6,500?

You tighten up that pump and your gonna loose some rpm, and I'd be really careful with the sauce running those pistons.

I was thinking I would loose some. It was turning 6200 when I first took it out then I put an open loader on it and that dropped it to 5800 but way better performance! I may not have the HP I thought I had. By the time I get this pump tuned and loading good I may only be turning 5500 lol! Yeah I'm scared to put the nitros on it but my motor is so small that's the only way I can hang with some of the big motors.

Yes sir! Let me know when you are coming this way. Right now I have the cable and lever working my neutral gate since I don't have a cable yet lol!
