Thanks. Now I can stay "more" legal on any other lakes I might hit. Here's another view

Those look badazz, man...  like they were made for that boat. :smile16:

Ya know, studs for the headers never even crossed my mind. Not that you should have to fool with them much, but damn if that wouldn't make it easier when you were.

On a side note, with that red & white checkerboard your boat reminds me of an old tractor puller from way back when... The whole thing, front to back, frame & all, was red & white checkerboard. Wicked sumbitch, I got old snapshots of it somewhere... :smile17:

Thanks guys. I meant legal as now I'll have mufflers, my Bassett twistys didn't have baffles or water running to them, so now there'd be less of a chance of getting in trouble with the lake po-po  :smile28: still gonna carry my badge in my wallet JUST in case though lol  :police:

Is it required that you have mufflers or is just water good enough? Just asking cuz I got a set of Bassetts for my boat, no mufflers, but will have water on them. They have 1 little hole at the back of the collector/outlet, that I guess is there to put a screw through to hold mufflers in, but I don't have any.

I have 2 sets of mufflers here, Chris.....
Law states water injection or mufflers, but each officer might interpret the laws differently....

It is totally up to the Officer that is doing the checking.  If he takes his baton out and shoves it up you Header collector he is looking for a muffler.  If you have any apparatus that will stop the baton from going all the way in, you will be credited for having mufflers.  If he ask, if you have water going to the exhaust, and you do, you will probably be OK.  This statement is made after numerous stops by the Frog Marshalls and a few dollars thrown at Lawyers.  Remember the Super Silence 2000 are the best anti-noise ticket on the market.

Don't worry about the mufflers Duane, I think the water will be fine.  Unless I just want a ticket and turn it off, LOL...

I never put mine in but I carry them in the truck. I've only had to put them in once, that was Welchfest '09 he was sitting at the ramp. Put them in, hour later took em out.

This is how the exhaust part actually reads: A motorboat must have an exhaust water manifold or a factory-type muffler installed on the engine.

In talking to a TPWD official - it's basically through transom or use a muffler; but that was an interpretation, the above is the quote from here: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/boat/safety/vessel_requirements/

Back on topic: those headers look great. Is there any need for flappers, or is it always covered?
