One thing I did learn from someone in Michigan that has a 340 Chrysler Jet is thing works so much better with separate controls for throttle and reverse, so I am looking for a hot foot for it anyone have one lying around.  I have thought about making my own I have a massive sheet of 3/8 aluminum from a boat i parted out.  I have lots of ideas for that like maybe a mid motor mount plate so I can just use my CW starter on the motor side instead of the rear location on the bellhousing.

I have not looked at all your photobucket pics yet but I wanted to post up on a couple things before I forget.  Very cool project.  One of the guys in our group's dad used to work at Chrysler boats.  I can't remember if it was Donnie or Mike Arcan.  I have brushed stainless gauges in my Ambassador.  I got them from Hardin Marine.  I am very pleased and they were affordable.

On the CCW starter.  Check with a local alt/starter shop.  If you can't find one down there I am pretty Hammond Bros here in Garland will build you one.  He has done a couple for the Ford guys in our area.

Good luck on meeting your splash date.  I used my Ambassador for a full summer with no seats in it at all.  LOL.

Thanks for the link yeah I like those gauges too.  It's the look I am going for.  Subtle changes from stock so as to not appear changed from stock.  I plan on keeping the factory colors but you can't go wrong with red white and blue.  I appreciate the links I hadn't seen that article before.  I have seen the first one though.  I have mine all torn down but haven't pulled the impeller yet.  It seems stuck on it and I am not about to break it.  Everything is tight and no bearings are loose so I might just change the oil and let her rip.  Some of the parts I removed need to be cleaned up though.  The way this one works is instead of pushing all the water straight out the back it splits it into two streams one left and one right and the diverter helps with the steering and when you need reverse it opens up to create the reverse flow nothing needs to be rotated down over the opening for reverse it just opens up and immediate reverse.  I will try to get some pictures of the operation of it to show everyone.

You might give Tom at JBP a call. He may have some suggestions on what to check on that pump as well as how to get the impeller off without damage.  I'm sure parts for that thing are like hens teeth.

I agree Kenny.  Interesting stuff.  Where is that article you found?  Also those Faria gauges are pretty nice in stainless too.  I had not seen those.

EDIT:  I think I found it.

From above article.  LOL.  "In sudden stops.  Randy obligingly revved her up, and both of us took solid grips to guard against leaving our teeth on the windshield when she stopped.  Unfortunately, we were going just a wee mite too fast."

Yeah, thats the one I was reading. Cool as shitt.... bling.gif

Have  you met Cliff yet?  Be careful about offering free rides.  You might get more than you bargained for.  :smile20:

I figure anything I need to repair/replace/upgrade will have to be custom made by hand or machined.  Good thing I'm not afraid of fab work.  Lucky for me all the parts were there and in good shape just mainly needs clean up.  Except for that crack in the outer housing.  But as far as I can tell it doesn't go all the way through.

Thanks Bill I tend to jump into things sometimes before I know how deep the rabit hole goes.  That's why I have a project chopper I have been off and on building for the last 15 years and with any luck I will have both the chopper and the boat done this year.  I can't take too much crediit for the posts or the views.  Posts are mainly getting yall up to speed on my project and the views well the sexy lines and uniqueness of that boat have to take that credit.  I'm no one special.  Just a poor man trying to enjoy life with his family and making new friends.

Just realized there's a projects section.  Maybe I should either move this or make a new thread over there and continue the project updates there.

let me say, welcome to THB,  bunch of great people here,  if you can't get the info your looking for here,  just ask, and they will send you to a credible source,  I have read alot and most of your thread,  looks like you got yourself a nice project going,  certainly hope to see it finished,  I,  myself have projects going,  I know this is a newbie thread, would be cool to see all the info and progess moved to the project section of the forum, so all the members and guess that visit this site can see it as you progess with this project,  a lot of people in and out of the forum visit that section and it's cool for them to see the members putting a lot of sweat and enginuity into their projects,  if you have trouble moving the thread ( and it is definitely worthy) just ask and I'm sure the Mods will help with it,  looking forward in reading and keeping up with this build,  very unique build and I'm all about these types of builds.

As been said in other posts in this thread,  don't need a boat to show up at an event or a get-together to meet this crazy bunch,  just show up and we will get you where you need to be,  again  welcome to THB,  the craziest and coolest bunch of peeps you will ever meet  :smile17:

I agree, everyone loves a good build thread. Setup a thread in the projects section to share all of the progress on the boat and all of the lessons learned along the way.  Lots of people like to go back through the old build threads when they are doing their own projects . Oh yeah,  welcome to THB  :smile16:
