just purchased a sanger race hydro, will be going after it this coming weekend, i've been running the youngblood jet for the last 2 years and still have it, what i'm needing to know is what can i expect to be the main difference the first time i put the hydro in the water, and i'd also like to know what's different between a hydro and a v-drive.    never been in a hydro or v-drive, and the jet will only gps at 102, the owner says the hydro will be pushing 140.

sounds like about 38 mph!!!!!
think.gif if set up with the right prop and gear's and power to pull it ,it might soil you'r pant's when it lift's the tail. driving a v-drive is a whole nother world from runing a jet. be ADVISED to get a lot of slow and mid range seat time before you decide to step in to it. my old hydro is SLOW comming out of the hole , but when it lift's the tail and start's dancing across the water it tend's to make me think
( I'M TOO OLD TO BE DOING THIS SHTZZZ)  crazy.gif

the owner said 140  think.gif ............ what  motor combo ,gear's, prop.  oooooooooooo 140
I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GET A TON OF AND ANOTHER TON OF SEAT TIME  before youstep intothat bad boy..JUST SAYIN  a off set rudder has poor l/h turn abbility ( hence i run a twin rudder set up) . at high speed don't chop the gas ALSO they will will not slow down like any other boat .
you need to talk to some people who have one in person about the ride and handling abilitie's
even between a lake hydroand drag hydro there is difference's . i own a flat and a hydro, between the two i think the flat require's more from you than a hydro. just my opinion. either way you got to be half crazy to own one.  crazy.gif

Be prepared when you shift into high gear also!  Depending on the gear step you may be in for a surprise.  My cousin had a a vdrive with a powerglide and with his racing prop on and your foot down, you better hang on! I almost soiled my drawers the first time i got into it when i drove it and had to pedal it (cavitation pedal) to keep from killing myself!!  Vdrives and hydros are definitely a different animal.

You'll want to know why you didn't start off in a vdrive!  :smile16: :smile14:  I absolutely LOVE mine!  :smile16:  They pull from the initial hit of the throttle and keep pulling.

take ALL their advice. seat time. dead starts.rolling starts.runners & flats r nuthin like a hydro.don't turn good, but once they blow the tail they hook up good.don't chop the throttle, roll out of it. that sanger was stabled out of Lake charles,La for a long time.owned by the guy who owns harry's machine shop out of 210 loop.he used to run it on the river and at one time had a blown alky bbc in it. it was a well kept and cared for boat. he and his son also raced tx19 gullwings for a long time. from LC i think the boat went to kansas and from there don't know. Vdrives r a true kick in the AZZ. u have to watch the water in a hydro as with anyboat ,but u certainly don't want to stick the nose in a roller! jealous thats a nice ride ! used to be named the Water Rocket !

great looking boat, but one question: why the wing??? kind of defeat's the purpose of poping the tail. you can change the loading of the sponson's by moving the prop back or forward in dime thickness increment's  ( free them up or keep them planted.).  anyway good luck and keep in mind
take baby step's at first . you won't belive the rush when tthe tailpops and it want's to run.  jump.gif

wing was on boat  just cause previous owner thought it looked good when he took it to shows, already took it off, yes it's still named WATER ROCKET, and yes it's already for sale cause my wife knows i'm a speed junkie and she'd rather that i don't take boat out, also bought boat cause it was almost show condition inside and out and figured it might make a few bucks before springtime, haven't even put in water yet and not going to if someone will allow me to make a few bucks on it, already got a guy in colorado trying to trade me out of it, just rather sale outright, thanks for all the info, if it doesn't sale soon, will have to get it wet.
