Hey guys this is my 1980 18' mantra jetboat. This boat is very special to me since it started its life racing against my Dad in the mid 80s, lake class. The two became good friends and ran together all the time. Fast forward to 1996 and the boat bexame for sale. My grandfather loved the way the boat set and ran so he had to have it. He bought it, i believe for 8k. Boat was all redone besides paint and interior. Over the years the boat was just a fun toy to take us grand kids in, i even have a picture of my grand parents in their 70s goin flat out in it, with a rooster tail. In 2010 my grandfather passed away leaving my grandmother all his toys. The boat sat for 3 years in a barn, until my uncle got ahold of it. He got it running and cleaned it up, besides breaking a pushrod it ran like a top. About 4 weeks ago i found out the boat was on craigslist. I was pissed my uncle was trying to make a buck off it. I wasnt going to let that boat get away. I gave him $5500 cash for it, i would of paid double that. I got a lil screwed i think but i didnt care. There is so many memories of my grandfather in this boat that i needed to have it. This boat will never be sold, it will either get handed down to my children, or it will go to the grave with me.
Plans for it are nothing special, has a pretty mild build 454 in it. Has some pump work but thats all i really know. I wanna keep it as original as i can. It idles great, and has plenty of go to run with the best of them. Maybe this winter ill tear into the motor and pump, i know the motor has very low hrs on it since it was rebuilt before it got sold. My grandfather never really took it out besides blasting it around for 15 mins.
