Mounting Seats....

I just got new seats for the lib and I was trying to think of some different ways to mount them. I want them to be some type of "quick release". That way when not in use I can put them in a closet or if I get caught in the rain while towing I can put them in the suburban. One of the challenges is that being a lib there are no stringers up front. Anybody done this? Any Ideas?

TIA

Should be pretty easy with the equipment you have access too Dusty.  You could just make a tapered slide.  It would go together kinda like a Mallory Promaster coil mount but bigger and aluminum.  Should be pretty easy to make a spring loaded quick release to lock it in instead of a screw like the coil mount.

check out this thread on Screamandfly starting around post 16, I thought this was a pretty trick idea and is similar to Matts idea

you may also want to check with Liberator, but I thought Dave told me there is plywood rather than balsa core on the tops of the tunnels where the seats mount therefore you can use screws there.

Yeah Dave told me to screw em to the top of the tunnel but the more I think about I'd like to have a way to R&R them quickly.

Thanks for the link! That looks like a winner, cheap, low profile and readily available. Thanks again clap.gif

That looks too easy.  And only $40 at Wal-Mart.  Nice find George.

Here's my quick disconnect for my seats.

The alunimun mount is bolted to the bottom, using bolts that run through the bottom.  This is not to my choosing, and will not be a problem with your sit-up with stringers.

The angles are bolted to the seat bottom, and drilled for the aircraft pull pins.

It works and I like it.
