More advise?

Ive been filling my tank to the top, so ill quit doing that, and ill put a loop in the line and see what happens.  and just replace the pickup tube, im gonna install an antisiphon on the pickup side, just to keep it running smooth.


my gas cap is flush mount and doesnt seem to  vent, is there a cap i can buy? or do i have to replace the whole assembly?

you have to change the whole thing,  i feel you just need to leave that alone for that is not your problem,  your vent will work just fine with what you're  gonna do with it

im going out on a limb here, the vent being clogged or (too small as compared to the amount of volume being pulled from the tank) could cause a vaccume on the tank starving the motor after a long run, when you let out of the throttle that vaccume is relieved and pushing back through the vent burping gas. .this is just my guess, if the vent somehow has a hose that runs to the bottom of the tank then its even more likely.you cant check for it by putting air to the fuel line and back flowing it, if fuel comes out of the vent then i would guess that is your problem, i wouldnt put a vented gas cap on it because that is a bandaid fix and only covering up a problem instead of correcting it.if you have a fuel filter, cut that screen shit off of the pickup and let it free flow

he's got the same sized of line on his as i do on mine and i have no issues, 

i don't have a loop in my vent line,  thought about it but i didn't want to trap fuel in the line,  so didn't do it,  i ran it straight

Another vote for (1) clean the vent (2) don't fill the tank so full and (3) replace the pickup tube.  I bet this combination fixes all your fuel issues.

I agree with Kona on the coil in the vent line.  If it ever gets fuel in the line it will act just like a clog.  Think pea trap on a sink here.

as long as the vent fitting doesnt extend into the tank its got my vote too.  Its definitely a start and then see if any issues continue from there.

My tank is in the front, and no there is nothing inside the tank on the vent side... it just connects to the top of the tank.

Mine is too & is hooked up exactly like that in those pics you posted up there. Nothing wrong with yours that I can see.

he most likely has a screw in/  flush mount fuel cap,  so he wouldn't want a vented cap on the deck of his boat,  not to mention the possibility of getting water in his fuel tank....

now the make a vent to replace the old style of vents,  that will not let fuel flow out,

i use to fill my tank to the very top and i would have fuel come out of the vent in a hard  left turn,  so i just stopped filling the tank to maximum capacity,  my tank is 24 gallons and i just fill to 20 or 22 gallons and no more problems

exact same thing used to happen to me. I quit filling it to the very top & it never done it again.

I bet you clean that screen on the vent, or replace it & fix that pickup tube & you will be good to go. That & don't fill it up all the way to the top. Even when sitting, in the heat the fuel can expand & puke out the vent as well, happened to Stuart's Sanger once, messed the paint all up...

This too, no loop. 5/8" USCG approved marine fuel hose on mine though. :grin:

since someone mentioned ethanol, check your fuel line, on an older hose the ethanol can eat the inner liner and cause clogging.fuel systems are easy.if you have a big enough size free flowing to the pump and an even bigger working vent, then its not the tank. and i would be looking at carb bowls.

anyone have advise on trailer tires? what size is normal... the tires that are on my trailer look to be too big, and i had a blowout on my last trip that im pretty sure was caused by going over a pot hole on I-40 and slammed the tire up in the fenderwell.  i think the tires i have on right now are 195/70/14 or 175/70/14.  my trailer is a single axel

195/70-14 sounds about right, i have never heard of 175 size. if you want a smaller hieght tire you need to go to a smaller series for example a 195/65-14 or 195/60-14. You could also go to a smaller rim size but that means new rims as well like to a 13 inch rim.  I have 205/70-15 on mine right now which are a way bigger tire.  I am going to be switching over to 16 inch tires at some point. like a 215/50-16 to try to keep it as low as possible.

pretty sure mine are 205/75/14.. Carlisle radial trailer tires. Hard to say what is "normal", but its a pretty common size.  single axle trailer here too.
