Okay, had a great weekend this weekend and topped it off with going to the Sprint cup NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway yesterday. Today, I'm sitting at my desk, ears ringing (yes I had ear plugs in yesterday), tired, not wanting to be here......hating the fact that daylight savings time is now officially over and ALREADY dreaming of the of the lake and spring time. Wow....is that lame or what? Lol.

Wow, it was incredible. I've never been to a NASCAR race before and man let me tell you, this was OFF THE HOOK!! Thanks to Brent, I was able to have two free tickets for me and my lady. I'm grateful to him for sure.

Anyway, there were a ton of campers, people everywhere and just a great time at TMS. The cool thing was, there were no gangs, no small pockets of guys looking for trouble or anything of the sort. Just a bunch of good folks having a good time. Very cool.

you'll never see any of that at ANY Nascar event. I mean who (even a crazy psychotic) would try to start crap when they are outnumbered 120,000:1  Rednecks Rule!!!

Rednecks and true Americans do rule!!

The one thing I am puzzled about is why in our current political situation that fun loving, tax paying, law abiding red blooded Americans are chastized for being just that? I'm sure this will open the door for our more liberal friends to debate.

None the less......NASCAR rocks!!

I've been to the cup races at Darlington, Lowes Motor Speedway and a bunch at Phoenix. Haven't been to one here yet but it's definitely a great time no matter what track you go to.

If you ever get a chance to see the big boys of drag racing at Ennis, that's a show worth going to also. You will never see, hear, or feel anything like the power of fuel dragster going by pushing like 4,000 horsepower.

I like personally the NASCAR events better, but you have see an NHRA event also sometime. Plus, at an NHRA event you get to go into the pits.

I went to the Texas race every year for the first 10 years.  I camped there for several of those years.  After that I got tired of the unpredictable weather and decided to start watching from my couch.  The best race I have ever been to was the night race at Bristol.  My Mother-in-law scored 4 suite tickets for the whole weekend.  Even got an autograph from the King himself Richard Petty.  He was in the suite right next to us.  As far as NASCAR goes that weekend will never be topped for me.

I have not even watched a race this last two seasons.  The race is fun to attend but NASCAR has lost that edge in my opinion.  There is no other race series in the world that I am aware of that guarantees 7/8 of the field to be in the race according to their owners points.  It goes against the spirit of racing.

NASCAR needs to return to their roots.  At any given time one manufacturer has an advantage over the others.  That's part of the spirit of racing.  Bring what you got, qualify to get in, if you don't make it in, better luck next week. And for the love of racing, at the end of the season, the one with the most points wins!!!!!

Same deal at an IRL race.  Well kinda.  You cant go in during the race but you can go in after.  The race is a little boring compared to NASCAR but it is still pretty fun.  It is much louder than NASCAR and it is cool to go into the pits after the race.  I picked up a tire and wheel combo down there a few years ago.  They weigh nothing.  I felt like Superman.  :smile15:

Another thing that is fun is going to Redline Raceway. Sure they don't have top fuel but they do have to fast shit show up. The best part is you can set your group can set up chairs and grills right next to the track for up close and personal view.

Nope, but I pass it all the time. It's 30 minutes door to door for me. It looks very nice.

And it's 1/4 mile.  I have not been either.  We need to go check it out.  maybe a test and tune night with your Z and Jame's GTP.  Could start him on another quest to be faster.  :smile26:

I wish I still had my Vette too! Had to sell it because of a dang woman!  :smile13:

What year Vette?  I had a Red 76 L-82 4 speed.  It looked good but it was a pile.  I was glad to get rid of that one.
