Man, I don't see Cliff's motor being wore out after sitting over the winter. think.gif

I don't think it did either.  I think it has more hours on it than what the PO said it does and it is just time for a rebuild.  A lot of things about that motor just don't add up.  Who puts cheap roller tip rockers and a 600 CFM vacuum secondary carb on a fresh stroker motor?  At any rate it is easy to run a couple of tests.  If he did damage something when he ran it without water it would be better to catch it now rather then have it leave him stranded and blown up.  Just sayin, Better safe than sorry.

EDIT:  Forgot it was cheap roller tips not stock rockers.

Agreed man 100%. Just thinking about possible solutions and problems. You could start it with the breather off, if valve cover has baffle. And see what you have for blow by. If the pcv valve is good, you should hardly see anything at all. If you do, it is either rings or valve job is shot. It cost me a 1,000 to repair and freshen mine up in the Hawaiian. That was 4 years ago, because it ran 30 years before spinning a rod bearing. That was honing, building a fresh set of heads do to the fact the others were cracked, rings bearings gaskets, and turning the crank. So I think yours would probably be less! :smile16:

Beyond that, If I remember right, Cliff is not 100% sure that is where the oil is coming from.  That is just the assumption because it seems the most obvious. :dunno:

Thanks guys.

I bought a new PCV valve and cleaned the engine with some degreaser. I also put a 3/8 fuel line around the dipstick tubing to seal the dipstick.

I'm sure what I've done wont solve anything and I'll still have an oil blowby problem. Just wanted to do the little things first just incase anyone of those things really did cause the problem.
