I want to invite some of y'all to my neck of the woods in about two weeks. The town we live in, McKinney, is hosting a two day Oktoberfest celebration on 28-29 September 2012.

The Crusader crew plans on attending....hope to have some THB folks come on along with us. This is a family oriented event and we had a blast last year.

I think this is the fifth or sixth year that McKinney has put one on. The big Oktoberfest in our area is in Addison though.

Um.. NOOO!!! Oktoberfest was originally started in Munich Germany to celebrate the marriage of then crown Prince Ludwig who later became King Ludwig of Bavaria in 1810. It was a 16 day celebration that lead up to the marriage. Later it was moved to where the first Sunday in October is the final day of the celebration. So a majority of Oktoberfest is actually held in September.

I've been to Ludwig's Linderhof palace and to the Neuschwanstein castle, have the beer stein to prove it.

Been there myself, to the Neuschwanstein castle. It is unbelievable. Its also a long damn walk up that hill to see it. Don't recall what kind of beer I drank when coming back down, but it was damn good after all that walking, lol..

We walked the stairs to the top of the big tower, then got me a beer stein full of good German lager at the bottom. I lived there for six years in Wurzburg. Every town has it's own fest, but there is only true Oktoberfest and it's in Munich, spelled Munchen on the road signs along the autobahn.
