magneto? or msd? which do you guys think is better?

I have asked the same question and I get the same answer of everyone I asked.  MSD for a lake boat. One of the guru's should answer this one.

Randall,is the mag in good shape or does it need to be rebuilt? If it needs rebuilt it will come close to costing the same amount as MSD setup,if not I say go ahead and use it. We ran an old Scheifer mag back in the day on our v drive and it worked flawlesly. You only use battery to start helps keep things simple.

mine had to run the gaps smaller on the plugs but worked better than the hei I have now  ... it just doesn't like to be wet.

thanks runnin late, i may try the mag in the blower motor, but i have to pull the mag out to prime the oil system, and cant figuire out where to point the trigger at, on my msd i just point the arm towards number 1, however on the vertex cap number one is on the opposite end from the msd. and where the number one wire goes in  number 8 also goes in there. weird
