Not sure what brand to buy for Marine 6X9 speakers....just need a set of two or if the deal is good, a set of four.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm running a Kenwood head unit, Rockford Fosgate 500W amp and a subwoofer...

Does Rockford make a line of marine speakers? I have a regular set of Rockford 6x9s & have been real happy with them.

Maybe John will chime in with what he runs, I want to say JL?

Ya know, I guess they don't have to be marine...I don't have Marine speakers in there now.... Just thought they'd be a little better.

I don't have marine speakers in mine, but they are up under the dash where they are out of the sun & water getting splashed on them is minimal at best. Plus, they came in a truck I bought so if they crap out I'm not out anything, lol.. The set in the boat is either Kenwood or Alpine, don't recall.

I had Pioneers with the composite cones in the Glastron. They got wet all the time and never had an issue with the speakers in three years. Like $50 a pair at Walmart. No paper in them to get damaged, all plastic type material and sound pretty damn good. I'll use them again if I ever put a stereo in the Cheyenne.

marine speakers will have a pvc surround where normal speakers will have a foam surround that will deteriorate faster in the elements

if you have a sum in the boat i wouldn't get 6X9's the audio quality out of one is not as good as a round speaker i would get a 6.5 or 7 inch round speaker and it will do better at louder volume levels.

What r you wanting sound,, or a little mid bass w/mostly sound? Anyhow my .02 the JL audio 7.7 has a little mid bass but lots of sound

(Make sure you get the right ones there is two different 7.7 ones these by far or the better one with a big difference in sound but pricey)

Second choice is the wet sounds really awesome for just all out sound!! And loud as s***

(Also pricey but you will be glad you did it they both or awesome and WELL worth the money and your amp will be fine with both!!)

The sony xplode series from walmart was good and cheap for marine. plastic cones and just about water proof. I have a set in my side by side that won't die.

The only reason I want 6x9's is because the holes that are cut in my side panels already have 6x9's in there.....
