Logs/Snails Question

How to fill a fresh motor with water 5 min after firing it up for the first time:  1)  Run water exactly as it was when you had thru-transom exhaust!  (By the  way there are no seep holes in logs or snails!!!) 2) Run motor  full of  confidence for 5 minutes setting timing and generally feeling  good about  having an new bullet in boat.  3) Pull hot wire from  distributor while  water is flowing heavily from newly configured over  the transom snails.  4) Wait for water that you were somehow able to  push up through the  snails to come running back down in cylinder heads,  so as to fill all  cylinders full completely full of water.

DUDE!!!  That should totally NOT work! For that exact reason, the water still in the pipe when you cut it off is going to run back into the cylinders and hit the hot exhaust valves. Logs will NOT drain like headers. Water should not be coming out of those at idle. In fact, I don't even know how water is coming out of those at all, but I'm no expert on these things. The flange on those should seal the logs. I always thought those OT tips were used for tuning only.

OK, looked closer. It would seem that those should have a ball valve only allowing water to flow thru when hauling it, then cut off before lifting to dry them out.

Those got snagged up, but found another set that look to be the same kind. Am I seeing these correctly, these appear to mount using only one bolt per port? Doesn't seem like they would seal very well...

good surface job, new bolts..... a good set of percy's type gaskets.....I'd run em.

Wasn't sure what kinda gaskets you were talkin about, but found them at Jegs. Something similar to the copper gaskets I have, but softer material, aluminum I believe?

Hm. I dunno... I like 'em, wish I knew if they'd clear my valve covers. Guess I could buy them & if they don't work, you could buy them & have TT exhaust on yer Sanger.
