Lake travis or what's left of it

Last time it was this low was 1950-1952 and then again in 1961-1963. Actually this is the lowest it has ever been, but when it does fill back up it does so in a hurry. What Texas needs is wide spread soaking rain to saturate the ground and then have some of those good old fashioned thunder storms made my multiple weather systems. WHen that happens you will see it rise pretty fast. The Llano, Perdanales and Colorado all feed Travis. Plus there are several large creek such as Sandy and Cypress that feed it as well. Lots of area to be drained into it. We are due!! Back in I think 99 I saw it come up from close to 40 foot low in about 2 weeks. When it does come back up there will be plenty of debris to get caught in intakes and bend props for a bit. I am ready to get back on Travis. Grew up going out there.

Has the Recent Rain helped any? I see that the Colorado River is Flooding near Bastrop.

Sad. threre's a famous Austin resturante that went under and sold I heard about due to the level.

There have been several that have folded but yes, Carlos & Charlie's had the most notoriety. Never thought I would see the day but I am surprised they lasted as long as they did.

Caught a news clip when it was announced they were shutting down, they hadn't even been able to use the docks/slips in 3 or 4 years?  Also read it was the only Carlos & Charlie's located in the United States, the rest of the chain were all out of the country.

Most of that heavy rain fell below Travis. If that rain was 100 miles north west Travis would be up more than it is. The right areas got some good slow moving rain last night, so in the next couple of days we should see Travis and Canyon come up some.

Haven't even boated on Travis yet, hope to change that one of these days. I have always heard how bad it is. Guessing you just gotta know where to go.

Up on the North end of the lake you can find places all to yourself up there. We used to go to Pale Face (Pace Bend) and launched right from the shore. Rough as can be lower lake due to many 30+ foot boats. Get past Cow Creek and it thins out and you will see smaller boats and a few jets. It you do take your jet, make sure your bilge pump works and keep the bow up! Launch at Briarwood marina, nice ramp and calm, but expensive. Other ramps are open big water and you gotta be quick.

Ugh, that doesn't sound like much of an enjoyable day. :cheesy: Will keep that in mind though about the north end, would still like to go & boat it.
