Question, looks like there isn't many rooms to stay in is there another place close by that the boats will be secure? And how's the boat ramp there? 2x4 pull the boats out or do I need to bring my gas hog down there?!  :smile13: gas is expensive

Going out on a limb here, but I would say that if you ended up staying at an area motel, there would be room to leave it there at the marina campground & plenty of folks around to keep an eye on it. Pretty much the whole place is gonna be THB folks or other folks affiliated with this event so I would say it should be safe, safer than having it sit in a motel parking lot anyway. Not sure how you'd feel about that, just my opinion & thoughts on it. Some of the other fellers will chime in with their thoughts I'm sure.

Far as the ramp, it wasn't bad at all when we were there last year... concrete & not real steep... 2 wheel drive should be fine...

Damn! That is far! Wish there was a big event closer my way! Yall have all the good places that always has smooth water!
Save up about 600 bucks drive down as early as you can and if ya get tired before ya get there pull over and take a power nap for a while ! I'm going to stop at a hotel around when I'm about an hour away sleep for a while and get there 6 AM ish for loud wake up run !!!!  BCR was really affordable I used 4 tanks of diesel running 75-80 all the way 'cept for the little towns.

When I called down there last weekend, she said the cabins/rooms were all booked. They had campsites available so we had to get one of those.

Also, the number on the website didn't jive anymore, I think it was for the restaraunt there, the number I then used was (361)563-2305. Kelly is who I talked to.

Another thing, they only deal with cash or check, they not set up for plastic. They did have a little ATM there to get cash though if you were unprepared for that situation.

Dude it is Mathis, not alot of selection.  That is the closest one there.  Not but a few miles.  Hot shower and good bed always a plus.  I just hope I have my own ride this trip.  If not I will go to Academy and buy a John Boat w/ 5hp.  I will paint flames on it so I will think I am fast.

You won't have a problem.  You will probably have gone through two more lower units by then.

Man I hope not.  I think once I get it running I will store it until the event.
