My Mini-day does NOT have a kill switch. Having not done any research as to how a kill switch is installed, what wire is the kill switch hooked into??

Mine has a kill switch, driveshaft cover, and I always wear my jacket when Im making any kind of speed pass. Ive seen a couple of boats go down due to u-joint failure. Knocks a hole in the suction and down she goes.
jump.gif  jump.gif  clap.gif  :smile30: way to go you have it covered. # 1 issue KILL SWITCH and LIFE JACKET .  belive it folk's stuff happens.  20 some year's ago i watched some one  from shreveport who shall remain name less, make a pass that was not really that fast,( for his boat any way ) and did not have his eye on the ball and a roller got him .  pitched him out BUT he had a death grip on the steering wheel, his body out side of the boat and leg's bouncing off the water. some how he managed to kill it. had not hooked up his kill switch or put his life jacket on. he got very lucky by being to hold on to the wheel like he did.  the out come could have been very different if he had lost his grip and slid under,  PROPS ARE VERY UNFORGIVING

spliced in to the hot wire going to the coil. if you need more info just ask, im sure we can help you out.

sorry to act like a preacher on the life jacket and kill switch issue's, but it is heart breaking to have to tell some one's wife, girlfriend or loved one's that they were hurt or killed. i hate to say that i have seen a
lot of thing's that could have been avoided and these two thing's stand out the most.

:smile17: you know from where i speak.  i have been in 3 major close call's myself. all from mech. issue's and
i'm a firm beliver in doing as much as you can do to keep you self as safe as possible, even if you'r just out
enjoying the day. in addition to running a kill switch if you look at any one of my boats you will now notice a on-off
switch on the l/s of my steering wheel i call it my ooo shitzzz switch. over kill to some, but since that day i put the flattie 18 foot upon the grass at palistine. and that is a good example of crap going bad quick. for those that don't know, when i was coming into shore, i had a habit of turning the mech. pump off  and kicking it out of gear. BUT that day the gear box torque locked and i could not get it out of gear. in the mean time the mech. inj. went into a high lean mode ,RPM went way up and shot the boat faster than i could digest what happened and put the boat plum up out of the water up on the grass. I THANK GOD NO BODY GOT HURT.

now I get earlier grass mowing comments ...
yep was kind of a wake up call for me.  think.gif  just glad nobody was close to get hurt.  it was kind of
embarrassing at first,  and took the help of everybody to get back in the water, but then after a while
the shock wore off and it became down right funny. hell every one else was having a good laugh about it.

I have to comment on this. First and foremost life jackets and kill switch and guys going over 100mph don't wear the $20.00 from Wal Mart get a Lifeline. Yes they are expensive but I have seen so many people but thousands of dollars into going fast than they get cheap on safety. crazy.gif  Also watch your surroundings so many people out there that do not pay attention and know when to lift, believe me there is always someone faster. Lastly do not drink and drive. Have a beer at the end of the day clap.gif

at this point i'm going to bring up some safty eqpt. that nobody ever give's consideration to.  i know of
only one person that i'm aware of that put's them on , KEITH TALLY  i do from time to time depending on what kind of run i'm going to do. AND ANY ONE RUNNING HIGHER SPEED'S SHOULD CONSIDER THEM.
( SKID PANT'S )  trust me you never want to meet the water butt first. been there done that.
had blue jean's and a fire suite on , got lucky.  whatever.gif  still hurt.

and it had nothing to do with driver error, alcohol, or even a part failure from what I could get from the description... :smile30:

Yup, and that was a professional driver. On a smaller creek, that could have been devastating. We've had really good luck so far. hopefully everyone will see this and think again before hittin' the loud pedal close to folks. Thanks Kenny.

after seeing that film, fixing to get off the computer and go out to the shop and make up some 60 t 6 plate's to go behind the stringer's  to keep the pulley bolt's from pulling thru on the driver side..  thank's for posting .
lost a rudder key one time, pretty much the same thing happened, thank god i was only cruising at the time.
now have a set coller above it to make sure that never happen's again.  30 year's  and itis still a learning

Very TRUE !!!
I broke down last year  and bought the lifeline jacket , suit , and the ballistic shorts . Maybe this year I might be fast enough to use them . I need to start wearing my helmet also ..
