Can anyone tell me what size diodes I need to wire up my 3 wire steering wheel place diverter trim button ? I've found the wiring diagram and it calls for two diodes. I've also seen the diode kit at Dana Marine Products for $27 but I can get diodes from Radio Shack for $1.60 and I want to do it today.. Anyone know which diodes from Radio Shack that will work ? Thanks in advance....

Also here is the link to the diodes at Radio Shack..Let me know which one will work..

I am doing the same thing to my jet boat,  I have a switch on dash but it is not cool when I am at top speed of 35mph to reach for the dash.  I have one on Knotty Girl sure is nice.  I know nothing of diodes, I thought they were in an alternator.  crazy.gif

Ed, if it is indeed a regular Diode, it simply allows current only to flow one way in a circuit.  The only thing on a diode to tell you which way it goes in the circuit is the "band".  On a little cheap diode would be a white stripe, that is the banded end of the diode.

Damn, I forgot to get back to this thread this morning.  It's hard to say without seeing the entire circuit but, it looks like they're trying to control any possible feedback from the motor.  So, if it were me I'd try a 1N4008.  Hope this helps.

LMAO true! but when you get that part its pretty easy to hook up! put one on my little boat and it took right off with no problems! mine even came with all the butt connectors! Everything i needed to make the install without having to hunt this or that down! JBP is TOP NOTCH in my book!

Yea by the time I drive around for parts and maybe it works or maybe it doesn't it's cheaper and easier just to buy the set up from him. He has helped me a few times before... clap.gif
