it's got a Menkins 784  10" dia 3 blade 15 on it now ... he has a cleaver or chopper for it that I didn't pick up yet ... strange prop on there now the trailing edge of the ears from the bottom of the lobe up to an inch away from the shaft has a little lip to it ... maybe 1/64-1/32 inch ... is that what they call cupped ? all the same no nicks sharp as hell prop ... maybe slower with this prop but who the hell cares ...

I hope you're joking about pulling the motor.
If not, there is no need to pull the motor or even do very much work to drain the oil in a V-Drive.  Here is how I have done it for years.  Get a piece of 1/4" white (transparent) plastic tube that is used to hook up an ice maker.  Next, drop the trailer tung down to get the oil to run to the front of the engine.  Insert the plastic tube in the dipstick tube and push it in as far as it will go.  You can feel when it hits the front of the pan.  If you push to hard it cause the tube to curl up and that is not what you want.  Create a suction on the tube until the oil starts to come out.  Put the other end of tube into something that will hold all of your oil and let it syphon itself out.  If the oil is not heated, don't worry, it will be a slow process and may take 24 hours, but it will drain the oil completely.
A word of caution, don't get in a hurry.  It will come out one drop at a time if the oil is cool, but it keeps coming out until there is none left.

You can always get pumps or vacuum devices that will do it the same way, but this is cheaper and works just as well.

OH, I have never seen a pan that doesn't have a dipstick tube, so I guess my idea wouldn't work.

Another idea that I have thought about but have not tried is placing a trash-compactor bag under the oil drain hole, much like when changing gears in a V-Drive to catch the oil.  Most people just use a good trash bag for the V-Drive, but I have always used the Trash Compactor bags because they are much heaver material.  It may be over-kill, but I still double bag the Compactor bags, just in case it might be defective or would get hung up on something sharp.  I hate to clean up spilled oil.

If you try it and it works, let me know.  If it doesn't work, please make sure you let me know.  Good luck.

I use the shop vac when I drain the water from the block.  It works well.

James and Dean came by my house last night for some fittings to re route some coolant lines and brought the boat. This is a really nice boat.  He definatly scored on this deal.
