Oh , a Ford that needs work . Nope , not rare . They are everywhere  :smile16:
At least they go like 30 + years before rebuild. How old is that motor you are rebuilding, maybe ten. Then you where thinking it mite have already been rebuilt. Sure sounds like a great engine too me! think.gif

Probably been sitting broken somewhere for 30+ years . Or been worked on many many times . Mine is not broken , its in great shape . I was amazed at how good of condition it is still in for having been 10+ years old , thats why I thought it may have been rebuilt . Turns out that these motors are just that good , they run for years and still look like new if you take care of them .

My 460 was a 77 model and spotless in side. You can thank the high detergent motor oil for that! :smile30:

My Ford has been running longer than all your boats put together... You need to get out more & come up with some new material. Of course, being stuck on a bench your chances of doing that are somewhat limited, lol...

All my old boats are still running  :smile30:

Except for one of them , guess what kinda motor was in it ? Guy said it broke the third time he started the motor , sounds about right for a Ford  think.gif

I would like to see one of you Ford boys man up and put a supercharged lightning motor in a boat though , that could be a neat project . Probably wouldnt last long , but  it would be neat .

devilman's boat, has been running forever, there must be something in the old fords, that keeps them together, but i have wasted as many fords in these boats as chevys,  all i know is whenever i have broke i have got towed by them all olds, chevy, and ford, so i say they are all great!, if i could afford to build a ford i would.

My Ford ran great for 33 years till I pulled it out and screwed it up. LOL

Really though, a Ford 460 is just as affordable to build as any BBC out there. All other Fords will cost you, but 460's.. yeah. My forged piston were like $350 for all 8, the aluminum heads from Ford Racing were $1,700. Cams, lifters, rockers, intakes, all about the same price as Chevy stuff.

I've been Chevy guy for as long as I can remember, but I'll admit that the 460 is a good design. Had an oil pump go out in one and a lifter in the other, which will be fixed and go back in the other boat. I'm not completely done with the big Ford yet, but am looking forward to seeing the performance and reliability of this small Chevy LS motor.

Really though, I can't wait to walk out on my first big block with my little 325 inch motor, and I don't care if it's a Ford, Chevy, or Olds... Someone's gonna get gunned down!! LOL
