LOL I know rub it in. Salt in the wounds just gets me more pushed to get mine done. Trust me seeing James finish his is more torture than anyone knows. Thats why I am now working three jobs need to build up the CJ fund again to get it finished.Crusader said:See CJ? This is how a "Build thread" should look......lots of pictures, info and most importantly PROGRESS!!
James is at 25 pages on this build thread and his boat is just a few weeks away from hitting the water... Well done James!
Lookin at pic #3, Please tell us that the plug that is out of that tower is back in it!blazeracer said:Dude, I spend most days fixing fridges in the shop or on the road doing service calls. I didn't even get started on the seats till 5pm and was there till past 9. Today was making the motor pretty to match the theme of the boat. Again, on a Saturday, didn't get started till about 2 or so.
First I had to get the old paint off. It came off easy on the heads but the stuff on the block is on there good so I just scuffed it. Then masked off everything that couldn't be removed to include the freeze plugs. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of motors get some ugly surface rust on the intake side of the head because they don't paint it. I covered it with tape, put the intake on, then took a razor blade and trimmed the tape to fit. it looks awesome and the head to intake sealing surface is paint free.
Then threw all the pieces on it to see how it looks. It will sit this way for a couple of weeks (or Wednesday) till the paint job and wiring is done.

Cool, I noticed that the crank was AWOL but then spotted the plug was missing and locked in on that!blazeracer said:Gas-Hole said:Lookin at pic #3, Please tell us that the plug that is out of that tower is back in it!
Nope, the plug is still out, along with ALL the rest of the plugs. If you look at the pics of the motor together, there is no crankshaft in it either. Also, no cam, no lifters, only two bolts per head, no gaskets...... It's only mocked up for now and all oily. I'm not gonna build the motor till the boat is wired and ready to accept it so once it built, drop it in and fire it. They say it's not good to build your motor then have it sit for a month before you fire it while all the assembly lube ends up in the oil pan.
