Can't help but laugh.

Very recently I saw someone suggest the droplight be used again to prevent the block from freezing.
I'm sure it could help, but it doesn't take much deep thinking to remember that if the power goes off, the light bulb stops working
or the temperature goes down very much, you lose a motor.

The most likely time for a power outage is during the most severe cold periods and thats the worst time to work on the boat.  There's no power (no light),
no heat and you're trying to drain the water when its cold.
That just doesn't seem like fun to me.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just drain the motor now when there is light and it's not below freezing.
It's everyones own choice, but better someone else than me.

Used a drop light with no issues. When the power went out last January during the ice storm I poured in a bottle of antifreeze  i had standing by. But my boat was on the water in November, December, January and February. The only reason is wasn't on the water in March was cause I sold it.

Tonight's gonna get down to 28, not cold enough to crack a block in one night, so not even using a drop light tonight. Water won't even turn to ice at an ambient air temp of 28, let alone get hard enough to break anything.

Only went to 30F in Mckinney last night......but the temps have been below freezing since 9pm last night and are still below freezing now.

There was a light sheet of ice in the dogs water bowls this morning however the ice was thin. No way would that ice be strong enough to crack a block.

I kind of hate the thought of being done boating myself. But I always have the fish slayer! :smile17:

i wonder how many are wondering about the drop light or antifreezing their ride? It was 18 at my house this morning,,and yea i live in the boonies in a low spot. Oh we did get a little snow last night too.

It was 25 at my house this morning and I had a light dust of snow on the car .. peace of mind to just do it right and not have to worry about it .. I did my old ski boat and RV two weeks ago ..

Yep mine have been done for a while. Im afraid this winter is going to be a little rougher than most if we keep getting these artic blast over and over again.
