That's the one I'm thinking of buying because it has a built in two step but not sure if timing can be adjusted.

Are you looking to adjust the initial timing or just looking for a start retard?
Most just lock the timing and use a start retard for high compression motors.

or are you thinking about something that lets you adjust the timing without turning the distributor? to make adjustments on the box instead of the dizzy. Like a tuning tool to slow down or speed up to hit the number???? think.gif

I don't think you normally use initial time to speed you up or slow you down.
At the hit, the engine goes through the initial timing phase too fast for much effect.
Timing on the other end of the curve on the other hand can have an effect.
But, if you're running a Ford, don't be too concerned about slowing it down, you only need to be concerned about it starting and hoping it will go faster.

Oh I'm hoping it goes faster your right Jim! If you change the timing it should change it all the way through the curve? Timing is a good tuning tool like when the air is really good early in the morning and you know you will run too quick... Take some out. And when you do it enough and have a weather station you will know what to do to run the number.

I use the dig. 6 plus for my boat it gives you one nitrous retard and 2 step with a max rpm, but for a more adv. box the 7531 dig. 7 plus, gives you 4 retards for mutable nitrous kits and a whole lot more, I use it for my cars! But it $900 bucks!

Ps I think all the dig. box come with start retards!

I won't be paying $900 I know that! Iv always used the old 6AL analog boxes on my cars. I figure I have a nice MSD dizzy for my BBF it's time to use it but I want to go digital and have a two step for the starting line.

THIS WAS MY LAST RACE BOAT. WITH THAT MOTOR IT RAN 10.40 OUT OF THE BOX. I CHANGED THE CAM AND INTAKE IT RAN 10.00. AT 100 MPH. RAN THE OLD 7AL BOX WITH A POINTS DIST. JUST MAKE IT RUN THE NUMBER AND RUN IT OUT THE BACK DOOR EVERY PASS. CHECK THE VALVE AND PUT GAS IN IT. TO MUCH TRICK STUF.

For the price the dig. 6 is the way to go, and does everything your asking about, just buy one of those and be done with it! Never have to retard the timing or anything it does it for you just set TE motor on kill and push the butten when needed

Thanks for all the great info guys! EO that boat is aired out! Looks good.

I agree with E.O. about not using a lot of trick stuff.
If you're running loads of nitrous or tricked out turbos, some of that stuff may be useful. Just don't get carried away with the hype.
