Changing the oil is the first on my list. I have a new jug of Rotella-t in the garage waiting to be used.

Then take it Calverts and pay another grand for him the break it down again, clean it, check everything, put it back together and tell you nothing was wrong with it. LOL

Did your boat get hot enough to break down the oil? Mine never runs over 160. Not trying to argue, but if there is a mechanical problem some where, chasing it with fresh oil aint going to help. If it's a damaged bearing somewhere you are going to upset it more! :smile20:

never went above 180 on the water gauge....I know the gauge worked because the temperature would rise on it after shutting the motor down but leaving the key on......I'd watch it slowly creep up to about 200f....then cool off.

Yes sir! At the least, cut the filter open. You are changing it anyway! Then if you see metal, pull the bad boy out! I'll sleep easier at nite!

Well....I have a new filter on there now....been on it for about three minutes of use. The original one is in the trash at Broken Bow. I'll cut this one open and search for metal....if it's bad, I'm sure there'll be some in there.

LMAO!!

Ford's giving itself a bad name all on it's own. I switched my boat to a Chevy and haven't had a single problem with it.

With that said, see you in Somerville with my Ford boat that has a tiny filter and loses oil pressure very quickly, then returns with new oil every time. LOL

I would probably try it first as well, an oil change & see what it does... but I don't really think thats what its gonna be.

Keep my fingers crossed on it though.
