what is the best way to clean a couple stainless side tanks that had some old gas left in them and turned to varnish?

see if there is a radiator shop that can boil then. 4 seasons in houston as a place out 290 that can do it. That's a long ride there and back ?! :smile15:

I use a product called "SEA FOAM"  you can pick it up at an auto parts store,  if the varnish is heavy you may want to let it sit for abit... but it works  :smile15:

Seafoam your car/truck now and then too. It'll clean out your engine pretty good and you'll smoke out the neighborhood when ya start it up  :smile13:

This may sound strange but, it works really well.  Rocks.  Mix some seafoam with a couple gallons of gas, add to tank along with a couple handfuls of small rocks.  Dime to fifty cent size.  Shake tank vigorously.  If possible, put them in the back of a pickup truck and go down the bumpiest road you can find.  Remove rocks and flush tank.

Strapped to a four wheeler across the pasture would work too.

Pea gravel & Drano, shaken not stirred...... That's how we used to clean the slime out of the pipes/expansion chambers on the quads & bikes back when we were riding. Didn't know if his tanks were out or not though...

im trying for three weeks from now but all the parts for the boat are scattered out at different shops and none of them will give a finish date. but definately on way, i hear theres already some playing out there and im missing out. gotta get out before keith fixes his so maybe i can win one or two before he is back.

Nah he and I are going to finish up my boat then pull his motor and see how bad it was hurt. I am hoping we can get him back out this season still.  :smile12:
