Did you just win a bet or something?

let's just say i will be able to put fuel in the boat  :smile17:
LOL it wont be long before its out on the water though.  Just have had some other things get in the way like a 2nd JOB in order to pay for the things on the boat.  Damn catch 22.  And no Patch I am not talking about catching 22 fish nor 22" long fish.

Kicking myslef for taking so long to really check out that crack in the housing thats a huge delay.  If it wasn't a Chysler I probably could get an intake from someone on the board to get on the water but alas I have to be different.  Lifes a gamble and I lost this hand.

I am still planning on being at RTC just will be on the beach the whole time.

Here, just saved you $10....lol

Should be way cheaper than having one fabbed.......

Maybe we can talk about your build here, instead of every other topic on thb.

LOL yeah thats the one I am looking at but If I fab it I am probably looking at $50-$100 since I am doing most of the work.  Plus it would be cooler.

What exactly is the problem with getting an intake to fit a 360 anyway ? That should be an off the shelf item at any performance shop .
Problem is that the newer magnum 360's use a different bolt setup which si what I have.  I can't use the intake on the 360 sitting on the trailer cause its the old style.  I havent found a used intake for the newer style yet and a new one is $180.  Although I already told the wife I would need to spend that until I get the bills caught up with the new job thats not getting spent.  I know thats not a lot for some of you but it is to us right now.  Yeah I know Boats are an expense but once I have this on the water it wont be as big of one.

Anyways a custom intake would be just what the CJ ordered anyways.  I can tune it for the RPM I want and have the pride that I did that.  Going to talk to Dusty about getting some plates cut from my aluminum plate I have.  I could also possibly cut up the stock fuel injection intake I have and use that as well to start from would save me from having to custom cut the flanges.

Making a custom intake yeah I could possibly get it done this weekend but most likely no it still won't make it, but you never know.

If you are good enough to fab an intake I am sure you could manage to get a little crack in the pump intake welded  think.gif Also I have to wonder how serious you are about getting your boat on the water if the major hold up is a $180 intake manifold . Why don't you skip going to next weeks boating event boatless and instead spend that money on getting an intake manifold . I understand not having alot of money , but if you are serious about getting a boat on the water it can be done . There are alot of guys here that have very limited resources to build boats , but they get them done .

Maybe we should start a new thread....everyone who wants to help can donate $5 to the cj intake fund. we've done it before, gotten together to help others....I bet we'd have an intake by next week. (if that's whats holding him up) clap.gif

No I will get it done.  I realize others can do it on a budget just priorities for money are not the boat nor my bike nor really anything I want.  I probably would have more money in my pocket if I didn't spend the money I do on my kids activites but they come first.  Not looking for any handouts or any sympathy just explaining this is my life and how I have chosen to live it.  I have given up a lot in my life for my family, my drag car, my motorcycles, some of my favorite vehicles.  I have had to in the past and am again working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet.  Part of that is because of choices I made a long time ago.  DO I like fast toys yes do they cost a lot yes can i get by with my fast toys on my budget i have in the past and I will again.  Do I want something better for me and my family yes I am always working towards that I have a goal and I will achieve it eventually.  I have always been lucky to find what I need when I need it at a price I can afford.  And sometimes it takes a little while longer.  I had thought I would have found an intake by now but haven't had the luck.  Maybe its because I should be building mine.  Can I weld Aluminum with my equipment no.  Have I welded aluminum in the past yes I have not great but been able to do it for repairing my motorcycle using a torch and aluminum rods.  I know someone through a friend that has all the equipment to weld aluminum.  He was going to have him call me and I haven't heard from him yet.  I could weld Aluminum with my welder if i spend about $200 in upgrading it.  I figure the friend of a friend will let me use his equipment for about $20 for the cost of the aluminum spool, gas and electricity.  The material I would have to buy will be about $20.  Do I want to get my boat on the water hell yes but not at anyone elses expense.  Everyone else needs that to put gas in their rides to enjoy them.

I have a head for coming up with off the wall ideas kinda why the CJ fits my personality its off the wall.  Probably why sometimes i rub people the wrong way cause I am a little OFF.  Would it be normal to fab an intake no why would I do it because its different and it might cost me less.  I have looked at getting a used older intake and modifying it to fit the newer motor which is doable.  I could possibly do it with the intake on the boat 360 motor now but its cast iron, and setup for a vdrive with a tilt to the motor and carb flange so would have to do something about leveling the carb back out but welding to cast iron doesnt always work.  I am figuring on welding up the Jet case myself if I can get ahold of Mike (the friend of a friend).  I will see everyone on the water soon enough.  It really wont be long.  I have been working on some side businesses that are starting to take off and hopefully will bring in the cash needed.  I am always working on something.

Spd when I see you at an event I will get your case of Beck's

you have alot of work ahead of you, dont overthink the dumb s***, buy an intake and spend your time somewhere else. you are going to spend more and waste alot of time building a intake that makes crappy power because you do not know the calculations or fuel flow you are designing not to mention the lack of water flow through the intake. to weld cast or even aluminum where it would hold you need to tig it anyways, since you didnt know that already then you should probably not build your own intake,

one mans "custom touch" is another mans "jerry rigged piece of s***"

Problem is all the shit talking and no work getting done. I'll bet the pump is still on the bench, the motor is in a hundred pieces and the electrical and fuel systems haven't even been started on.

Well in response to that yes the pump is still on the bench, Motor is being buttoned up this weekend picked up some parts today.  Still need an intake for the motor but have an idea on that.  Electrical is also on the bench but all buttened up ready to go back in the hull once I am ready to put everything back in.  I got a used set of switches and fuses along with a set of gauges and have those ready to drop into the dash.  The hull is has a few things to finish up but mainly need to get a new aluminum fuel line to run, get the gas tank hoses bought.  Of course the motor and pump need to go back in.  Yeah I have been talking and plan was to be ready and it will get done.  Worst case I will see ya'll at Tawak until then every one can think what ever they want.  I will buy the first case at tawak though and thats cause i don't drink often.  The running motor will be torn down and all the parts moved over to the new motor by sunday night will post up pics so everyone can see.  I know you all think I am full of Sh!t and there is only one way to prove otherwise unfortunately it wont be this week.  Am I taking forever yeah my plans never seem to work out how I want them to go.  I make plans and i put them out there it makes me accountable to make it happen.  Sometimes I complete them sometimes i fail but I learn from the process.  This project should have been done a long time ago.  Like cliff i took out a loan to make sure I got it done quickly but like usual in my house once i got the epoxy and the motor the wife used the remainder for soemthing else she felt was needed.  I dont want to get into all my personal life issues because I dont want to get anyone feeling liuke I am looking for sympathy I am only stating facts of my situation.  If you want to know more feel free to pm me, talk to me at an event or call me.  I don't mind talking about it just dont want to air all my laundry in this form.  It does explain what I do to a degree.  I have very much enjoy being a part of this group and enjoyed in the smack talk and yeah i talk a lot.  Evidence by some of my long posts.  I am trying to refrain from posting as much and sitting back and watching now since its evident I may have worn out the welcome or pissed a few off.  It is what it is.  I don't apologize for anything it is what it is.  Do I give some other a little hell yes.  I think the best part of this group is the GTG's and a big part of the reason I joined.  I hope to make it up to Lavon some weekend for the sunday GTG.  Everyone has curveballs in thier life I am dealing with one now and me disappointing myself by not getting this thing done is much worse than anything anyone else has to say about it.  I am my hardest critic. If this kills this thread so be it I felt I had to explain it.

I hope to see you all on the water lets go have fun and call me what you want if it will help you laugh I always good at being the class clown.

Dude , don't cry about it . We have all missed deadlines , that's why I refuse to make them. It's like a curse . Look through all the build threads , mine , tints , any of them . You set the bar waaaayyyy too high to begin with . I doubt you really pissed any one off , it just didn't happen .
