Can I launch at Whitney... making a decision about a cabin SOON

We're considering renting a house at Whitney.  One is located on the East side and one on the West.  I'm launching a 25' 4,000 pound boat, double axle trailer, with a 2wd Full Size Chevy Van.  I sure don't want to waste money on a rental and not be able to launch.  HELP!

Beyond that if I can launch how dangerous would it be to run upriver towards Plowmans and Indian Lodge?

THANKS!

Water is pretty low at Whitney. You might want to check out the Corp of Engineers web site about open ramps.

Whitney is a cool lake.

25 footer should not have a problem. Run to Academy and check out one of their fishing maps. It will give contours and let you know how deep the lake is.

We will be at Steel Creek this Sunday . That is on Lake Whitney on the west side of lake where the river starts  .. . According to JJ , he walked out 10 feet on the tamp and it was about knee high .. Gerald or Popsicle normally launches there 35 ft plus boat from there .. If they launch this Sunday . I will post it up Monday ..

The river is getting Low . If you do not know where to run . i would not suggest to go to far up river , but that is just me . There ar a lot of stumps in the water up in that area .. It is a pretty River . If you get past Plowman and Kimball bend , The River is easy to stay  in ..

Check in the north section , that is where we normally post about Lake Whitney

Thanks for the info.  Any additional posts will be considered helpful.  We went ahead and reserved a place near the Juniper Cove Marina.  I spoke with them today at lunch and he said they had a low water ramp that was concrete.  I asked him if he thought I'd have a problem and he said he didn't think so but just in case they had a tractor they could use to get me off the ramp for a nominal fee of $35.  Such a deal!  So we'll be there the 24th, 25th, 26th, and leaving on the 27th.  If anyone's going to be around please let me know.  Maybe I could get a run up the river with one of y'all.  Thanks again.
